One shouldn't infer someone's spelling and grammar solely from their online spelling and grammar. I know I certainly don't fully engage my brain when on forums. Sure it is lazy and might cause bad habits but it is little evidence of my true state of knowledge.

I totally agree. Just because someone types in slang or does not use correct English grammar on an online forum does not mean they do the same on a job application or imply they have poor maths and English skills!
(Sound like the oldies having a stab at the younger generation for no real reason here ;))

OP- You will find a job in time, but you shouldn't be so picky. Good luck finding a job around your studies, although I think you may find it rather hard to find a job that doesn't involve lifting at some stage.

Rememba bega's cnt b choosrs! :rotfl:
    Total Mortgage OP £61,000
    Outstanding Mortgage £27,971
    Emergency Fund £62,100

Plenty of jobs dont involve lifting!! thousands.
If someone cant lift due to back problems then they should look obviously for more suitable work which doesnt hurt their back.
If you cant get a job through employers then what about private housecleaning or dog walking etc?

I don't understand why you would use the same language two ways, though - properly and improperly. Surely it's easier just to use it as you were taught??

So, they are "screaming for office staff in Aberdeen", are they? Wow, I never thought I would ever read anything like that, particularly in view of how had the recession is now. This is a total contrast to the employers in Liverpool, where they are ultra choosy about who they take on.

So, if I DID relocate to the apparent jobs utopia of Aberdeen, how long, do you reckon, would I be out of work before I landed my first office job (apparently, not long, if your comments are anything to go by)? And what are the best employment agencies there for office staff?

As I said, in view of how bad the unemployment is here on Merseyside, I am now seriously considering relocating. It is just a case of finding suitable accommodation, of course.

Living is expensive here but I live 8 miles out and it's a lot cheaper there.

But some have said on here that the jobs in Aberdeen are primarily in the oil and gas industry. So if this is really the case, what are my chances of gaining employment if I lack experience in both these fields?

Surely you wouldn't move without having secured a job first?

Well, some say I should move first, so that I will then be in a position to get a job in the area. Others, like yourself, advocate that I should secure a job first before venturing to move.

    Chicken and egg scenario.

Surely you wouldn't move without having secured a job first?

No? I am sure someone on here suggested leaving the UK to look for a job or leave the town where you live as if it would be easier elsewhere.

It depends which level you're going in at. I would try reed recruitment for entry level. No experience required, or oil careers Aberdeen will show most of the jobs available right now.

I went in at an entry level job 5 years ago with no experience.

There is also temping work where in many cases they will find you a job same week, it may not be for long but it is an option also.
