cant get a job so annoyed

I agree, it is bad here.
It took my daughter 18 months to get a part time job to fit round college and she only managed to get a few hours at the Grand National but was lucky to get something else a few weeks later.
My eldest son was almost 2 years out of uni before he got a programming job, the only work he could get before that was doing nights at the sorting office for 24 days leading up to Christmas. He actually asked for the nights as they said it would give him a better chance.
My other son signed up for a few agencies but even then only got dribs and drabs of work including screwing tops on bottles of weedkiller and scraping mould of shoes. He hated it but kept on till he got a full time job in drainage, it's so disheatening for them getting rejection after rejection or more often than not just not hearing anything.
What you have demonstrated is that there is work out there if you are not picky - they all now have work.0 -
I totally empathise with you. It IS hard now trying to get a job out there. The unemployment situation not only makes you feel very depressed, but it also makes you feel angry - very, very angry - when you get rejected time and time again. These employers certainly aren't helping things either by making us jump through all these ridiculous hoops (e.g. lengthy online behavioural tests, personality assessments etc. etc.). If there weren't so many out of work, they could not afford to be so choosy.I agree, it is bad here.

I did one application yesterday and it took me over one hour to complete the assessment called Customer Care Pro but I had to do it if I wanted to apply and actually it gives you the report on how they scored you at the end which made for a good read.I totally empathise with you. Are there many office jobs in Aberdeen? If so, is the competition high for each vacancy? I have been contemplating moving there from jobless Merseyside, but first need to know what my chances would be of finding an admin job in Aberdeen. I would also need to know about finding suitable accommodation.
They are screaming for office staff in Aberdeen. Have a look on the recruitment websites in Aberdeen.
Living is expensive here but I live 8 miles out and it's a lot cheaper there.0 -

Yes there are unemployed people in Aberdeen 1.5% compared the uk rate of 3.9% (based on JSA Claimant count) There are 2100 people on JSA in Aberdeen, there are 55,000 people on JSA in Liverpool.
Good for you for considering moving to get a job, I worked close to Aberdeen, it is a lovely city and the countryside round about is gorgeous, bloody cold in the Winter though.0 -
If the OP can't lift a tray of buns from out the oven, I hate to think how hard she will find it shifting scenery and stuff.Never Knowingly Understood.

Going back to the OP's plight, it utterly astounds me how poorly the younger generation have been taught in the basic subjects of mathematics and most of all, English! It is extremely rare to meet someone of the younger generation (20-somethings) that has even a basic grasp of the very language they speak. Indeed I 'chat' (in written form) to people from many nationalities that actually have a much better grasp than most of the English language, quite saddening. Is it any wonder that students get rejected as soon as the potential employer sees the mess of an application form?
OP, whilst you await that perfect job it might be an idea to get yourself to a library and grab some books on basic English usage, it will get you far further in life and work than media studies ever will!0 -

I despair whenever I see signage that is supposedly provided by professionals. And they will insist on inserting apostrophies in plurals. ie MOT's. You would think that if the customer hadn't noticed it the printer would:mad:0 -

One shouldn't infer someone's spelling and grammar solely from their online spelling and grammar. I know I certainly don't fully engage my brain when on forums. Sure it is lazy and might cause bad habits but it is little evidence of my true state of knowledge.0 -

Printers are paid to print, they will print whatever you send them mistakes and all.
I only had to learn that lesson once
