well we only had 6 years of clutter, but we are really good at collecting clutter!
lots of it has gone in the loft, there's stuff in the garage and in the boot of my car!!
decided that we needed to get on with it, so just wanted it out of the house, so we could show it off to its best advantage. Will worry about what to do with it later!!
Freecycle is great for getting rid of stuff, most things are collected the same day and it you get no interest after a couple of days, you can chuck it out knowing that at least you've tried!!
We contacted HN on the Tuesday (I think!), they took the pics on Friday and it was ready to go live on Friday night. We had a slight delay as I needed to find a document pertaining to planning permission for the HIP. But you can get on the market within a week.0 -
I tried to register with Freecycle but never had a reply so I've unfortunately ruled that one out. Old PC's and monitors are a worry.
Oh, and then there's the "tarting up" of the house to do!0 -
first viewing done - communication between HN and myself has been great. Appointment made over the phone and then confirmed both by email and on the website. There is also a facility to say if there are days you can't do appointments, but you can choose to still be contacted by HN on those days to arrange future appointments.
so far so good0 -

A lot of the uk Freecycles have changed their names to Freegle, because of politial problems with the US parent organisation. Is there a Freegle in your area?
We had (have!) loads of stuff, like you, 20 years worth. I feel better giving it away than just chucking it. You have to be a bit patient though, some people seem to say yes to everything then don't turn up. I always ask for a real name and a landline number. I've met some nice people too!
I agree about the old pc's though, they are a worry.0 -

Thanks for posting this. And congratulations on your first viewing! I tried to find your house to look at it, but could not see the offending jumper, so perhaps I was looking at the wrong one!0 -
got a message this morning to say they had emailed the person who viewed yesterday and are awaiting their feedback. It's quite good, if there is something you need to know, then as soon as you log onto your account a message pops up to tell you about it.
Lots of activity on the website this morning - only thing I am going to try and find out is do they have a method to log unique visits, or could it be the same 3 people over and over again!!
anyone else got any news?0 -
I have just put my house on the market with an EA and after reading this thread I am beginning to regret it!
It would be interesting to know how many sales are started through the internet, a For Sale sign, local press or the EA's other contacts!
A few people I have spoken to all say they now look on the internet first so perhaps the EA's days are numbered.
If we don't get a buyer after the minimum contract term with our EA I am very tempted to give Housenetwork a go!0 -

Well, the HN sales can only come through two of the channels you mention, since they don't apparently use local press, and don't seem to have a method for fostering contacts other than phone contact with buyers via their call centre.
Do you mean to tell us you picked an EA without a website? Surely not. Assuming your agent does have a site, which would people look at first? Your EA's or Housenetwork (or Rightmove)?0 -

Thanks for that information. I've now registered on Freegle and hope it responds, as Freecycle never did!0 -

Well we are still holding an offer - not accepted yet but the viewings seem to have stopped - I did wonder of that was on purpose by HN -??? I hope not0
