  • Sheppyd, which part of the country are you in?
  • Thanks, weekends won't be a problem as I will always be around and I work 10 mins drive from home so if someone was despereate I could maybe see about lunch time at a push. Thanks for all your help.

Hello, I have been following this thread with interest because we are considering putting our house on the market with House Network. I just had a question with regards to viewings - I know you do your own but I work full time and my husband works odd shifts some weeks as he's a tube driver . A friend of mine said this might create problems if people want to view the house during the day in the week. I just wondered what everyone's experience was in terms of managing the viewings if there's noone around during the day and if we would be better off going down the traditional EA route instead because of this? Any feedback appreciated.
The majority of our viewing requests have been for Mon to Fri around 1630hrs to 1900hrs.

If a particular day is awkward you can check it off in your HN user area as unavailable in advance, so a mutually suitable appointment shouldn’t be too difficult. I guess the awkward days would be a similar issue for a high street agent?

    I am in South London!

I work from home too - so no problems with viewings
  • It can be pretty difficult to arrange an accompanied viewing at a convenient time. I wouldn't worry about it if you are going to be able to let someone view within a few days of them enquiring - the only issue is when you want to be free to go away and not come back for people who might not show up or might cancel at short notice, or if you are no longer in the area yourself.
  • All my details are sorted, I did it by email, but it is quite long winded, someone mentioned phoning up and I think that sounds like a good plan if you have several changes - however all changes are acknowledged by email and confirmed when they have been applied.

This morning I had an email survey (took about 5 minutes) asking about the home visit - ie was the guy on time, how was he, anything I would change - seems they are keen to get it right.

I have booked our house in, we are having the photos etc next Monday! So far, so good.

Has anyone used Housenetwork for the legal side of things? They offer to "take care of your legal fees (not including disbursements) for just £299 +vat (Leasehold property subject to additional £125+vat)."

    Is this a good price?
  • I decided not too - I was speaking to a relative who is a solicitor and used to do conveyancing and he said you should choose a local solicitor that you can go and see if things aren't straight forward and you should need to sort things out.

I have to admit I feel a bit odd finalising legal docs by post and email - probably just me! as this is about saving money, so using their legal guys will do that, but I don't think we will.

yes, I would say it was a good price.
  • We had an offer today!!! Not a fab one - but one we may accept! That means an offer in just over a week!!
