DSR's in theory are a good idea, but in practice are totally flawed.
Could I suggest in future you research how thebrackets work rather than typing inside the quote. It would make it easier to answer.
But I'll try,Why buy something if it clearly states that posting will be in xxx days?
Because the item might be wanted? That's what DSRs are for, and I expect other people to work to the same standard I do.Why buy something if it clearly states that posting will be in xxx days, and then moan about it?How do you know when the despatch actually happened, are you going by delivery date?Same here, but if the listing stated the posting would be in xxx days time after the sale then, you don't really have an argument. How do you mark a business sellers p&p charge (especially if they use PPI Packetpost) when you have absolutely no idea what it actually cost to post? How do you know when it was sent, anyone can 'mark as despached' and send it a day or two late?
As said already, franked post mark has date, RM site for recorded.====0 -
Taking 3 (working) days is a bit lazy, and the buyer should neither know or care why, the buyer pays you for an item, and it should then be posted.
We had a discussion at work, and everyone who buys from eBay was in agreement, 3 days to post is a p*** take, and everyone said they would mark down the stars if they bought from someone who did.
My usual marking, would be 5 stars for posting at the first possible opportunity (same day/next day) dispatch. 3 stars for posting after 2 days and 1 star for 3 days or more.
When I sell, I will always ensure the item is posted same day/next day and so expect the same from any other seller.
A tardy lazy seller will also make me examine the other categories closer, so I will check postage cost against postage charge, and be hypercritical of the item description and will mark down as required.
If the item is posted on the first working day opportunity, I tend to just give 5* across the board as long as the item is as described when it arrives, I don't hold delivery times against the seller, just dispatch times.
If i buy an item that says 10 days dispatch and it is dispatched in 10 days - then its 5 stars.
If i want it quicker I GET IT FROM A FASTER SELLER - BUT THAT MIGHT COST MORE MONEY - RIGHT? So people like you buy the cheapest and then just punish the seller, and make demands that were not in the auction.
People who ignore the sellers dispatch time and mark down are sad pathetic low lifes that would not say boo to a goose in real life. Getting their kicks hiding being a PC , marking ANONYMOUSLY - PATHETIC!!!!
If Ebay want to ban slow dispatch - they should limit it!! Why allow 30 days when no-one dare use it anymore - even for personalised items that take a long time to make.
I sold an item that took 14 days. It was impossible to do it quicker - as it was personalised. I sold it for £30. Direct from the shop took 28 days - and cost £100. Deals like that are no-longer on Ebay thanks to sad, pathetic losers with no life.0 -

As a buyer, I want the choice to buy tat from part-time sellers if I like, and I resent eBay's attempts to remove that choice if a seller isn't able to get to the post office daily or to delegate to someone else if a personal emergency should temporarily interfere with their eBay commitments.
As a seller, I'm trying to increase sales in other venues since eBay is an increasingly hostile environment for smalltime sellers. I get the feeling eBay bosses would prefer to ban private sellers and secondhand goods altogether, but to avoid the media outcry that would inevitably follow such a policy, they pretend they're only getting rid of "bad" sellers. A system whereby a single disgruntled buyer can tip the balance between "Top Rated" and "Below Standard" is clearly screwed up.
Some customers who find eBay akin to a giant online department store may imagine it's always been that way, but some of us remember the good old days when it was more like a fleamarket, with a few dodgy sellers but plenty more bargains of the sort rarely seen nowadays.DSR's in theory are a good idea, but in practice are totally flawed.0 -
I'll check the franking post mark date on the item, if it was recorded, I'll check the date on their system.
How would you check those using PPI? No date for you to check.I have a scale and a copy of the RM costs book, it's pretty simple to work out fair postage.
I wonder how you would work out my postage rate on Royal Mail tracked?0 -
Don't you just love the DSR system.
1* = Appalling
2* = Below average
3* = Average
4* = Above average
5* = Brilliant
Ebay ban you for 4.4 (ish) because you are terrible!
I'm sure someone with a more mathematical brain can explain averages better than I can- sorry.
A quick way to explain what I mean is to go and look at other sellers stars- virtually all I see are sellers at 4.8 or above, if I see a seller below say 4.6 I start to wonder what they are doing wrong.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. charlies_mum wrote: »The comment about not stopping listing is correct. I have one low star from February and my 12 months stats are
Item as Described 4.80 0.39% (1)
Communication 4.91 0.00% (0)
Dispatch time 4.92 0.00% (0)
P & P Charges 4.92 0.00% (0)
We didn't list a lot in September, and my 3 months stats are now
Item as Described 4.31 0.00% (0)
communication 4.93 0.00% (0)
Dispatch time 4.97 0.00% (0)
P & P Charges 5.00 0.00% (0)
So even though my low star is from 8 months ago, unless I quickly get my average up, I could be in trouble.
Wrong information given by Ebay CS. The problem with my Item as Described rating is that one buyer bought 9 items from me and scored me a 3* for every one.
This buyer is a competitor of mine, and has actually relisted the items at almost three times the price they paid, and has described them as in excellent condition.
Off to do battle with Ebay CS again. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
charlie's mum, I would certainly argue with ebay about that- make sure you keep saying it was 'malicious' as it seems to be a trigger word for getting poor stars removed.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have a similar problem to Charlie's mum at the moment and spoke to CS yesterday using the word "malicious", cs said they would not do anything about it because I was not allowed to use the reports to find out who had left my low ratings, against ebay policy. I said I didn't care, I had worked it out who had left me low ratings and it wasn't fair, the reply was "life is not fair"0 -

It doesn't matter what you paid as an individual, just that the postage is fair.
Simple to work out, if something like a small packet arrives second class and has been charged at say £4, that would be a mark down when true postage should be around £2.20.
If you are lucky enough to get a discount on the normal RM costs, good for you.
Sellers, (this seems to be more of a problem with part time sellers), need to realise that postage isn't a way to increase profits (or to avoid eBay fees).====0 -

Totally and utterly wrong,again!
With PPI the label has no date,no weight and no price.
It is worked out on the average weight of ALL the items you post that day.
Your idea of looking at RM price list is wrong, you CANNOT POSSIBLY WORK OUT WHAT THE SELLER ACTUALLY PAID.Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!0
