O2 to start charging for 0845 & 0870 calls
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

This is indeed bad news as I think that o2 are the only provider that allows 08 no,s within allowance(can anyone confirm this).
When does this new charge start?0 -
hmmm i would presume if this is true then this will apply to 0844 too!! which would be a disappointment as thats one of the main reasons for me getting an o2 line. Real shame.ummm...0

When does this new charge start?
I seem to remember O2 saying this last year - and it didn't happen. I'm happy I just renewed my contract for another year!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
all i found was this
http://www.o2.co.uk/mobilestariffs/tariffs/specialnumbers
can't see anything about 25p/min..smile everyday...cos its free
Live everyday to the Full..cos there is no tomorrow:dance:0 -
Terrible terrible news. Nearly all my minutes are used on 0844 numbers.
I am considering sign another contract with O2 online now.
off peak 2000 mins for £25 per month. But this is a monthly contract. I can cancel contract with 30 days notice. Can O2 change the T&C with monthly contract? Same questions for 12 or 18 month contract users. After the contract finishs, I guess you have to accept the new T&C if you want to continue. Confused.0 -
Not true as far as I know.
I spoke to a few people, they said its all nonsense. These things are sometimes blown out of proportion. No need to worry unless we actually see real evidence.0 -
Sigh!
This 'rumour' has been doing the rounds for over a year - and everytime its proven to be FALSE!0 -
I rang O2 and the person I spoke to says it depends on which contract you have. Contracts £35 and over will continue to have 0870, 0845 numbers, etc as part of their inclusive minutes.
I rang again and spoke to someone else in O2 for confirmation and they assured me that these numbers are inclusive for ALL contracts and he was 100% certain.
I asked him to e-mail me this and he said of course, it will be with me in 5 minutes.
6 hours later - NOTHING!
Does anyone know the true facts?0 -
New tariffs are being introduced shortly, and will not include these. Existing contracts will not be affected. On applying for a retention offer, if it stays on the same tariff, it would also leave these calls in.
The person I was speaking to was reluctant to say more, as she did not have the details yet. I pointed out that 07744 numbers were removed last year mid-contract, and why would I believe that this would not happen this time. Her manager confirmed that existing contracts will not be affected.
Perhaps more information will become available soon.0 -
i have just bought another phone with o2 and main reason for this was 0844 0845 0870 numbers
last tear when i singed it was clear that tarrifs above £35 include these numbers and its still says the same o2 online where i got my n95:DHonesty is the best policy doesn't matter which web site

if i had known then what i know now!
a bargain is only a bargain if you really need it!0
