Google launches Paypal rival!

Personally, sounds like great news if it's better protected than Paypal (after being a victim of their wonderful chargeback system to the tune of £309!).

Let's face it, it can't be any worse!

Why? All they would have to do is say no google payment options allowed, and it would effectively be dead in the water as far as Ebay is concerned.

Ebay can ban whatever they want from their site.

There are some concerns about google checkout in the US:

There had been early hitches with returns and cancelled orders.

These were factors, according to a JP Morgan report in January of this year, which led to relatively low US customer satisfaction with Checkout's service.

Also at the moment ebay.com do not allow the use of google checkout:

It will be interesting to see how ebay.uk react to the news...will they follow their US parent and ban it, or will they be bold and allow us to use it?

Worth checking out though meanwhile I would have thought.

I think you'll find that if they try that in Europe (without some very good reason) they will be in very serious trouble under European anti monopoly legislation.

Their feet wouldn't touch the floor :)
