And where does it say that it's available on other networks? EE and P4U are the only two and P4U are only selling it on EE - that is straight from EE.

It's coming was on a tech sites, only Vodafone hsd not confirmed priceplans
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)
  • Looks like you have it wrong Diamonds regarding the Lumia 920, an extractionfrom an artivle in the crave section of Cnet (sorry cant post links yet)

"EE exclusivity doesn't exactly make Nokia's new flagship available to as many people as possible, and as the Lumia 920 will be one of the most tempting Windows Phone 8 mobiles around, the deal could hurt the uptake of the operating system.

If you want to buy the Lumia 920 you can also get it from Phones 4U, though you'll only be able to buy it on an EE contract. While Nokia tells me pre-order smart phones are winging their way to customers today, those looking to buy the Lumia 920 right now will still have to wait a few days -- early November is when we should see the 4.7-inch mobile on sale."

With those prices the 4G will die very quickly in this country..

I'll keep my unlimited data 3G (currently 2.5Mb/s in my area), unlimited texts, 250 mins, free calls to the same network and free 0800 calls, all for £10 a month, thank you very much ;)

    will be
    1GB data (tethering allowed)
or £12 for unlimited data (no tethering)
    from 6th Nov

This article says it is a EE exclusive (although you can get it on tmobile and orange which are EE) O2 are getting the 820 but not the 920. Probably the worst business decision ever by nokia.

Or just buy it sim free and use it on whichever network you wish.

    I know. I don't need tethering but I use only about 700MB a month so I'll keep paying £10.

That is the problem - it appears that unless you buy one from the US or from a grey channel, there is not going to be a SIM free version sold by stores in the UK.

I say "appears" because the communication from Nokia is so poor that anything could be happening, however the tech stores I spoken to (Clove and a couple of others) are under the impression that there will be no SIM Free version - or at least SIM free versions that are not already locked to EE.
  • how's the signal? AS you can probably guess I'm in Bristol. Waiting for my new sim card, wondering if it's going to be any good?
Trying to remain free of unsecured debt and build up some savings.

Have done CeFA and CeMAP exams but no longer regulated.

This article from neowin.net confirms sim free availability, at least through Phones4u http://www.neowin.net/news/no-sim-free-lumia-920-in-uk-but-all-820s-get-wireless-charging-shell

I couldn't imagine a quicker way to kill this phone and OS at birth than by tying it to a single network, especially with the expensive 4g tariffs which many of us can't get anyway.

.... if the O2 network doesn't crash on you too often :rotfl:

Seriously, if you look at the costing for 4G plans in other parts of the world (especially the USA) our plans in the UK are the best value by far.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂
