If everything is straight forward I.e. borrowing well with limits, payslips clear, already customer (moving house) what's the current turn around from application to mortgage offer? Anyone had any recent experience? I believe back in the summer they had a backlog, Thanks

2 years ago it took 20 days for me, the valuation occured within about 5 days of the application going in. I'm currently waiting on another with Nationwide, application was sent back on 24 Oct so wondering how long it will take this time!

I submitted an application through their in-branch mortgage consultants in June this year and didn't get the mortgage offer until August. I was told initially that I should expect to receive the offer within 10 days

I was borrowing well within my limit and had all the necessary documentary evidence.

I understand that during this time they had a new software system installed which caused them many problems.

Their customer service was shocking and I had to do all the chasing to ensure that the offer was issued in time. Personally I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Oh well time will tell, will update thread as things progress. June...nothing heard til August! I won't need to worry about delaying moving day till after Xmas then! :rotfl:

I can't even consider leaving them with a 2.5% bmr! So let's hope they don't let me down this time round.
  • It took us 2 weeks ... We made an application on a Friday and got our offer exactly 2 Fridays later. :)

Edit: This was just last week btw....

We applied a week last Wednesday, had the survey results on the Friday, told it was satisfactory. The Monday, supplied p60's they asked for, and then told to expect an offer on Friday.when we asked on Friday, through our broker, we were told they have a heavy work load, and wait another 24 hours...cue an anxious weekend....grr....

Sounds like they have speeded up somewhat. They needed to. Mine took from 20th August until 12th October. Fortunately the chain below me have been dragging their heels.

  • Ours was done earlier this month through a broker , took less than a week. Good job too as we only went to them after another provider let us down  May have helped that I've had products with them for years and we opened a joint account with them a week before application.

I have an existing mortgage with them. That didn't seem to speed things up, in fact the paper application probably slowed it down.

Just had a mortgage offer with Nationwide last week.

Full application (over the phone) done 15th October
    Survey done 19th October
Requested updated payslips on the 23rd (which they received on the 24th)
Received the mortgage offer by text on the 25th and by post on the 27th

Apparently they have improved their turnaround time last few months!

Ours went through in July in around two weeks, but we were warned by staff at Nationwide that it may take longer. We used a broker and he claims it was because of him that it went through quicker. I don't know whether it was or not.
