It must be lovely to be able to do whatever you want whenever you want. I am a single parent to Little Miss Gap (age 12). I actually really love being single as I can be my own person but I always have to consider LMG. I can't just pop out to the gym or the cinema without her. Well, I probably could but I couldn't make a regular thing of it and she would be devastated if I went to the cinema without her. We get on so well she is like my wee friend. We do stuff together and she gets a bit down if I do things without her. I went to a hen night a few months back and she wanted to go too and was quite disappointed when she couldn't. If I meet my girlfriends for dinner (we go to each other's houses every couple of months) she wants to go. When it is their turn to come to our house she loves to stay up and talk. She loves them and they love her so it works out quite well but it just means I don't get a lot of time to myself.
Aww how cute about the GPs. Your grandson can maybe have a look at them when he goes round to yours, haha.

girlatplay - Your relationship with your daughter sounds wonderful. Its great being a mum to boys but i would have loved someone to share girlie things with !
Thr GPs are sat on my knee now whilst I am at the computer. I have just ordered a big bag of GP food over the phone and i will collect it at weekend. No point in buying small bags. I would sooner save a bit of cash and get a bumper bag. I have called the GPs Humphrey and Cyril !!
The Goldie Hawn book is really enjoyable. Each chapter is a little episode from her life and she just comes across as a really lovely person. Going to have a read again in a while as I am really tired tonight x
Its been work for me today and without going into too much detail its been pretty ghastly. Lets just say I work with someone who i wish I didn't !! Not to worry, only tomorrow to go. Came out of work at 2pm and went to the gym. Did 50 minutes on the treadmill. Called at Asda for some milk and came home. Whilst i have been at work there has been a lot of thunder and lightening. My wonderful neighbour has my house key and took Sidney in her house till the noise had stopped. I am so lucky. Anyway I took Sid to the park for a quick run before the rain started again.
Not got much planned for tonight thankfully as i feel rather tired. Bit of googling and some reading before an early night.
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
We do have a lovely relationship. Don't get me wrong, it is not perfect all the time. We do argue sometimes and sometimes she likes to go off on her own and get make up tips from you tube or go out with her friends but I very, very rarely have to pull the parent card with her. I love spending time with her. She is so funny and she "gets" stuff really quickly.
Humphrey and Cyril, how cute!
Goldie Hawn always seems to play quite ditzy characters. It would be nice to read what she is like in real life.
We had thunder and lightening here too. It was really loud. We have two cats (they are LMG's!) so she went home and got them in in case they were scaredHow lovely that your neighbour took Sidney in to her house. That was very thoughtful.
That's not good that there is someone at work who is not pleasant. You often get that in workplaces. No fun. Hope it is not always bad for you.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Hi girlatplay - Good to hear from you. Today has been bad at work due to some awful person in the office....but hey ho, I am off now till Tuesday morning. I intend making the most of my time at home to make up for the poor work atmosphere. Hope you have had a good day x
I have been quite busy today. After work I took Sid to the park then had a bit to eat before walking up to town as I decided to go to the teatime zumba class to dance away my negative feelings. It was quite enjoyable. I walked home again then jumped in the shower. I made a bit of progress on the house front today . I rang up my gas engineer and arranged for him to come round on Monday tea time to have a look at a fireplace I have in my breakfast room. I would like a gas fire putting in the hearth if possible so i can cut down on having the central heating on over the winter. It seems daft heating a massive house when i pretty much live in one room. Anyway we shall see. Going to get the piggies out soon for a while and send some emails. I have got loads of bits of jobs I want to do whilst I am off. I just want to make the best use of my time. Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x
Bid disappointed William and Kate didnt consider either Humphrey or Cyril for a name !!0 -
I heard they did consider Humphrey and Cyril but opted against them because they were disappointed you didn't call the GPs Wills and Kate!!Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

girlatplay - You gave me a laugh......Thanks x :rotfl:
Today has been what i would call an action day. I wanted to get lots of bits of jobs done........and i have.
I was up early and took Sid to the park. I decided to take the car to town with me this morning whilst i went to the gym so I could do loads of errands before i came home. Had 40 minutes on the treadmill then did my usual dance aerobics class which was great fun. Had a bit of a spend in the £1 shop. Bought another bottle of shampoo (its a new type and it really suits my hair) and also some crayons and colouring books for my grandson. I then drove to the petrol station and filled up the car and also got some petrol in a container for use in my petrol strimmer. Next stop was Aldi where i bought some basics - fruit, yoghurt, cordial, cat food. Called at my local Home bargains and bought a massive pack of loo rolls. That should last me till the New Year unless one of my sons comes home and it will probably last a fortnight !
My next destination was Lidl. I went purposefully to buy some new running shoes. I bought some for £15 from Aldi a few weeks ago and they are great. However I need some more and they had some splendid one on offer today for £15 again. Anyway I managed to get the only pair that were in my size so i was delighted. I then called at another bargain shop and bought some more specialist paint so I can carry on with my projects. I bought some paint which is suitable for painting my Victorian day bed. That could be my next project !! Lastly I called at my local bakery outlet and spent £3.20. I bought a huge bag of chocolate covered rolls and a massive bag of chocolate cakes which i will share out with my children. They are fantastic bargains.
When I got home, after unpacking and having a late lunch, I tackled a few bits of jobs which i have been meaning to do - a few phone calls to make appointments etc, glued some shoes, ironed clothes which I have dried on the line. All in all a very productive day. I still have a few more bits and pieces to do......plus I want to get the guinea pigs out for an hour or so.
Anyway i hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
Off out for the day with my work friend to North Wales. Sidney has already had a quick trip to the park and is looking forward to her day out. Lets hope the weather stays nice.
I weighed myself this morning and i am managing to stay at pretty much my ideal weight which is great news. I plan on having a few food treats today !! x0 -
Yesterday was a busy day out. We spent the day in Anglesey and Sidney came too. I was tired out when we got back but i decided to get a few chores done. I get paid twice a month so decided as I had recived some wages that I would put another £500 in my savings. I now have a bit of a nest egg as an emergency money.
Today has been a lovely day for me. I was up early again and took Sid to the park. I walked to the town centre gym and did 40 minutes on the treadmill followed by an hours zumba. I wanted to make up for the fact that i had sat on my backside pretty much all day yesterday. Had a bit of a spend whilst in town. 99p on some baby wipes - I use them every morning and night to clean my face. I then went into the most splendid vintage shop we have in the town. For week I have been eying up a full length vintage suede coat in brown. It is stunning. I was just so undecided about the coat as it somehow doesnt seem right to buy a winter coat in very hot weather. Anyway I spent ten whole pound on it......and it is stunning and i feel like a million dollars in it. I will wear it with skinny jeans and boots in the winter. I am so glad i bought it because it would have cost me a lot more than £10 to buy a new winter coat.
After shower etc I went to my local pet shop in the car to pick up a huge sack of guinea pig food. It should last me ages. After a spot of lunch I picked up my grandson and we spent a wonderful afternoon together. We called to see my aunty in the nursing home then we went to the park and spent the afternoon in the paddling pool and sand pit. We came back to my house and he had an hour with the baby guinea pigs and my other pets....also he played the piano for me.......Move over Elton John.....NOT! Anyway he has gone home now so I am going to do a few more chores then get my feet up. I have just thoroughly enjoyed today.
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
We are having very rainy weather here today so I quickly took Sid to the park at 6.30am before the heavens opened again. Decided to go to the out of town gym in the car to keep dry. Just done an hour on the treadmill and I feel ready for the day now !! I am going to spend the day at home hopefully catching up on loads of bits of jobs. First job is to move the guinea pigs into the wash house. I hope everyone has a great Sunday x0

Wow I have had a busy day doing loads of little jobs. My first job was to move the guinea pigs into the wash house which involved moving the tumble drier and doing a tad more painting. Hopefully the wash house will be their forever home now !! Their cage is huge but they spend most evenings sat on the sofa !! I did my weekly British gas meter readings and paid my weekly bill. I am so glad i do this. I just pay for what i use every week.
Next job was to put 2 dining chairs in the loft as they are in the way, but first i had to wrap them in plastic sheeting as they are as new and i dont want them spoiling. Other tasks involved making a couple of phone calls and cleaning Audrey the chickens coop out.
After a spot of lunch i set off again - bit of ironing and i hoovered through the house. I did a bit of painting as well. I have a small Lloyd Loom bedding box and I sprayed that a bright pink to match the Lloyd loom chair, but unfortunately I ran out of paint so i will have to get some more this week. I also gave the Victorian day bed its first coat of paint. However i think its going to take a while to paint as its so fiddly.
One of my sons came round for a few hours so we just chatted whilst i made a big pan of spicy chick peas which have now been portioned up and put in the freezer.
I have now had enough of jobs for today so the plan for tonight is - feet up, guinea pigs on my knee and a good read of my book.
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0
