Oh its just so hot and clammy here today. I have had to come in and get out of the heat for a while. I was up early and decided to go to the gym very early. Did an hour on the treadmill and as I had gone to the out of town gym in the car I did my planned errands. I filled the car up with petrol then went to Aldi and bought - apples, bananas, lemon curd, milk and yoghurt. Hopefully I wont need any more groceries for a week or so. When I came home i took Sid to the park for a quick run round. The rest of the day has been spent in the garden. I have completed my job of thinning out the privets. They are now about 12 inches wide instead of about double. Once some new foliage starts to grow back they will look great. They are certainly a lot better now they have been thinned out.
What does the rest of the day hold ? A rest I hope. I am planning on a couple of phone calls, a good read, a nice shower and just generally getting my feet up. I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)

Hello Sidneysmum, have just been catching up on the last week, so congratulations to you and your son and family. Lovely news.

I too have been taking the dogs out very early for a walk but today even that hasn't happened as the temperature didn't really drop much even overnight.
Spend less now, work less later.

Hi Jazee - Thanks for stopping by. Its just so hot here today. I actually feel as though we are actually getting a bit of summer this year. I hope the nice weather continues as the cold weather will be here soon enough. Hope all is well with you x

Today has flown by. I decided to have a bit of a lie in this morning, so the first thing i did was go to my 9.30 zumba. When I got back i took Sid to the park. Another dog wanted to play but i could see she was just too hot to be bothered ! When we got home my neighbour came round and fastened a piece of wood to my pantry floor. I have decided that as the pantry is quite large and my tortoise (who currently lives in a vivarium and is unhappy) is going to live in a lovely new tortoise enclosure. So....its all been made now. I got loads of ideas from the internet. It is going to be a perfect home for her and as its at the very back of the pantry, I have just had to sacrifice a bit of floor space . It looks great and I feel good knowing that she no longer lives in a tank which she had clearly outgrown. This afternoon saw me visiting my aunt. I haven't been for a week but she fell asleep so my cousin and myself ended up staying just less than an hour. Never mind. At least she is well cared for.
Since getting home i have just pottered about indoor doing a few small jobs. Its too hot for me outside. I will venture out soon for a bit of a roam round the garden. The plan for tonight is to relax and have a good read. I have started a new book - Life begins at twelve - Bob Willie Wilson.
Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)

Just got home after an action packed day !! Up nice and early for a Sunday and walked to the town and had a quick look round the car boot sale. Spent £1.20 on a book and a couple of bits. Went in the gym and did an hour on the treadmill. Walked home and took Sid to the park for a quick run before it got too hot. After my shower etc, my cousin collected me and we have spent a great day in Manchester city centre just mooching round a few shops and stopping for a meal and coffees. Its been very relaxing and very enjoyable. Probably spent about £20 on food and drink but it was a nice change and something I should do more often.
Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)

I have just come back from holidays and caught up with your diary. Congratulations Grandma!! How lovely to have a new little girl in the family.

I'm sure the tortoise will be much happier in her new home.

girlatplay - Hi and thanks for posting. I hope you have had a great holiday. Not too sure what the tortoise makes of her new house. She hasn't woken up yet ! PS. I am presuming its a "She" !!!

Today has been quite hectic this morning then a leisurely afternoon. I was up and out nice and early with Sid to the park then decided to make a big pan of chick pea curry and rice. Really tasty. Once that was done i went to the gym and had 40 minutes on the treadmill followed by a zumba class. It was rather a nice change as our regular Monday teacher has just disappeared and left....but we got another teacher and she was really good.
I have spent this afternoon at home just pottering about as some workmen were coming round to do a few minor repairs which had resulted from the cavity wall insulation. I have done some washing which has dried on the line and now been ironed and put away. I have got everything ready for the next 2 days at work - clothes all sorted, bag packed and food for the next 2 days organised.
The plan for tonight is to do a bit of googling, a bit of reading and maybe a couple of phone calls.
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)

I am glad work is over with for today although i suppose it was OK. I was there really early and managed to get away early afternoon. A friend of mine gave me a book of hers to read - PD James - Death comes to Pemberley. It looks good. I might just read it once I have finished my current one. I called at the gym on my way home and did 40 minutes on the treadmill. I made the decision that Sid wasn't having a walk today as its just too hot here - even now it is, and I think she actually agrees with me.
When I got home I called at a lady neighbours. She is getting rid of some wood out of her garage and it would be ideal for some extra shelving in my pantry when my handyman neighbour is available. Not bad - a free book and some free wood in one day. A plasterer I know called later this afternoon to give me a quote for skimming the old playroom. Lets just say I will be having it done. He can do it in about 2/3 weeks. His price was very reasonable and the room will look very polished when its done. Glad i decided to get a quote.
Anyway I have just been round to see our lovely baby and had half an hour with her on my knee. She has my sons long arms !! The plan now is to have a rest, eat a bit of cake, have a bit of a read then get an early night. I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)

Managed to get away from work yesterday at 2pm but i had been there a long time !!
Have been doing a bit of planning whilst I have been at work today as to what i am going to do with next months salary. At the moment I plan on paying all my bills, saving £500 and paying for the old playroom to be replastered. I will probably have money left over and i still have some in the bank from this month so......I might just buy 2 pairs of curtains and a light fitting for the room. As yet I dont know what i am going to do with this room. It is quite a big room about 16 x 12 and has a fairly neutral carpet. It has 2 windows so they will need matching curtains. The only furnitue i have so far is a white iron victorian day bed i won on ebay at Christmas time last year. My initial thought is to use it as somewhere i can do my sewing or just as a hobbies room. a relative has said I can have her old drop leaf table which has the most stunning barley twist legs. It will look fantastic painted with Farrow and Ball paint. I have also got loads of odds and ends I can use in the room - a french mirror which needs painting and a Lloyd Loom wicker chair which needs a bit of tlc.
Last night I went to a "curry bbq" with friends and had a great time. I wore one of my new maxi dresses and felt great in it. I am so glad I lost some weight. It probably sounds daft eating curry in the scorching hot weather but it just hit the spot. As we had ordered a huge take away there was loads left and no one was interested in keeping it.....so I brought it home. I put it in the fridge last night as it was late but one of my first jobs is to portion it up and put it in the freezer.
Anyway I hope everyone had a great moneysaving day x :)

I have got a busy day planned for today and have already managed to tick a couple of jobs off my list. Sid has been taken to the park and I have already sorted out the leftover curry from last night. My hosts were going to just put it all in the bin. I brought it home with me as the majority of the food was in unopened foil trays. I have just put 12 meals in the freezer plus a huge freezer bag of naan bread which i cut up into smaller portions. I am so glad I offered to take it home. It will last me for ages. :)

I have had a really enjoyable morning. I walked up to town and popped into Sainsburys. I bought some beautiful pyjamas and some dark pink jeggins and a matching pink and white t shirt. I did really well money wise as the bill came to £38.50 and I cashed in some Nectar points and ended up paying £23.50 for the items. Bargain.
Next went to the gym and did 40 minutes on the treadmill followed by my dance aerobics class. I really enjoyed both. On my way home I called in at home bargains to buy some rice to go with all the curry I have frozen !!
The weather is gorgeous again so it was a pleasure to walk to town and back. Got a busy afternoon planned !! :)
