Very dull here in the North West but its been work for me today so I have hardly noticed. Thankfully I have had plenty to do so my working day has passed quite quickly. I left work at 2pm and went to Matalan to return some shoes I bought last week. Unfortunately, even though I had only worn them twice, some of the beads on the top of the shoe had decided to fall off. Never mind, they gave me a full refund as they didnt have another pair to give me in exchange. I then went to Sainsburys and bought myself a beautiful Grecian style maxi dress. My friend who I saw last night gave me some money as a late birthday present so I knew exactly what I was going to buy with the money. The dress is beautiful and it will be perfect for either going out in or just wearing on a lovely summers day.
Once home I took Sid to the park which was wonderful now that the fair has gone. Just made a couple of phone calls and the plan is to get my feet up with my book and hopefully have an early night.
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)

    Hi sidneysmum :)

I started reading your diary a couple of weeks ago and it took me a week to catch up! (I am usually only on here when I am at work during the day :o) I look forward to reading your updates. You are quite inspiring.

girlatplay - Thanks so much for reading my ramblings and going to the trouble of posting. I am really flattered that you see me as quite inspiring. I think I just try to be positive and keep busy because I live on my own and I don't want to feel lonely. I actually thrive on keeping busy. At the moment I a chewing over a couple of projects - I need to organise a new window in my childrens old playroom before I start the decorating. Also I am considering shelling out the membership fee for Ancestry. I have done loads of work on my family tree in the past and am thinking it would be a good idea to join - but not until the autumn when the darker nights set in. Anyway thanks again for posting x

Today was work and it actually was OK. As i know i have no choice but to go to work I try and be positive about going, but deep down I wish I didn't have to go. Never mind, I should think myself lucky that I have a job and one that pays enough that I only have to work 2 days a week. After work I took the dog to the park for a quick run round then 2 of my sons turned up for a quick chat. Had an early tea and decided to go to the early evening zumba class instead of staying in. Anyway it was great and I feel really invigorated.
The plan now is to get my feet up with a little edible treat and have a read of my book.
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)

I have thoroughly enjoyed my day so far today. Its been kinda busy so that's suited my just fine. Sid and I were at the park nice and early then I went up to the town centre gym. I did 40 minutes on the treadmill followed by my usual Thursday dance aerobics class. Spent £1 on some milk before coming home. I have spent the afternoon painting in the wash house. I would say its half way done. Its not easy to cover orange emulsion with white emulsion. It is taking about 3 coats and more in places. Never mind it will be great when its done. Hopefully I will do some more tomorrow. I have also just got back from visiting my aunt at her nursing home. I am only going about 3 times a week, but I think its enough now she has settled in.
The plan for tonight is to have a nice read. I have completed the midwife book which was really good and I have now started a book called "Passing for normal" by Amy Wilensky. Its about ocd and tourettes. My bookcase is looking a bit emptier. Soon I will have to start and get some books from the library. I am also thinking I might cut a bit of material up in preparation for making fabric bunting for my wash house. I have got allsorts of plans and a bit of bunting is part of the plan !!
Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)

Today has been really nice, I have enjoyed it. Took my lovely hound to the park first thing then decided to go to the out of town gym for a 40 minute session on the treadmill. For once I went in the car but it was only so I could fill it up with petrol. Once home I decided to do more emulsioning in the wash house. In between coats of white paint I read a chapter of my book and did other little jobs connected to the wash house. I think this time next week all the painting should be completed but its taking so long because orange paint is a sod to cover.
Met up with a friend late afternoon and had our tea and a good gossip at the carvery. A huge carvery meal and a refillable diet coke for £8.40. A nice, cheap trip out. It was lovely to see my friend as we haven't seen much of each other whilst my aunt has been my first priority. Anyway we made more arrangements to meet up in a fortnight for more of the same.
Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)

Decided to have a bit of a lie in this morning, so got up about 8am. Went to the town centre zumba class today which was great fun. Can home and took Sid for her walk to the park. Thats when the trouble started. She has obviously cut the pad on one of her rear paws with something sharp. Anyway she is hobbling round with her paw in the air. I have had to put an absorbent pad on her paw because the cut stops bleeding then starts again. Its not an emergency but I can see i will end up at the vets on Monday if it hasn't started to heal. She has obviously taken full advantage of the situation and has positioned herself on the morning room sofa which is something she is not normally allowed to do. Cheeky dog !!!
Been out to visit my aunt this afternoon for an hour or so. She was rather grumpy, so I was quite pleased to get home to my dog.
The plan for the rest of the day is as follows - something to eat, an hour or so with my book, then my friend is coming round to stay over and hopefully we will have a good catch up.
Not spent anything today - I hope everyone is having a great moneysaving day x :)

I have had a nice day today so far. Up early as my friend who stayed had to go to work. I was picked up by another friend Sam and we both went to the town centre gym. I did an hours hard work on the treadmill before coming home. Just time for a bit of food and a shower before I went out for an afternoons retail therapy with my best friend. I had plans to buy some new clothes but only managed to get a couple of much needed jogging bottoms from M&S in a size 8. OMG. I also bought 7 lovely birthday cards for £1 which are ideal for my girlfriends. Also bought a piece of white voile for my wash house window and a new loo brush. Oh how the other half live !! After shopping my friend came back for a cuppa before going home for her tea.
I haven't taken Sidney out for a walk today as she is walking round with her back leg up. She is not ill but her paw is still raw and sore from the cut yesterday. I have decided to monitor her progress. If her paw doesn't heal in a few days or if it shows signs of infection etc, I will be off to the vets quicker than I can say Jack Flash. However in herself she is in rally good spirits so I am not overly concerned at present.
I have just had an hour in the garden, cutting privets and conifers whilst the weather is warm and dry for an hour or so. In fact I might just go out for another half an hour before I get my feet up with my book.
Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)

Although its not been sunny in the North West today's, its been quite a nice day - dry and quite warm. I wont be walking Sidney for a few days yet so I went to the gym and did 50 minutes on the treadmill before my 9.30 zumba class. After my class I have just been doing a million and one bits of jobs - bit of food shopping, washing, line drying, ironing. I have also been doing more painting in the wash house. It is just a tad patchy in places with a little bit of orange paint showing through. However the room is starting to take shape and its looks really clean and fresh. I have shortened the piece of voile I bought yesterday on the sewing machine and hopefully I will be able to put it up at the window as soon as the pain is dried. It feels really good to get loads of little jobs out of the way. I am also pretty much ready for work tomorrow, clothes ready, bag ready, food ready.
The plan for tonight is to make a couple of phone calls, read my latest book - "The cruel mother" by Sian Busby, and also have a bit of a potter in the garden. Sid will be with me so at least she will be getting some fresh air.
Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)

    Hi Sidneysmum!

I'm still here giving your diary a read :)

Hope Sidney is okay, my dog Meg decided she wanted to run into some hedges and did the same thing a couple of weeks ago, only took a few days to heal as it wasn't too bad, shes a bit of a pain for running in the thickest hedges you can find (usually coming out with half of the hedge attached to her!!)

Hope you are keeping well, the weight loss is still going on here, a nice walk around the lake later for me and Meg so that will burn some more calories off!

    Speak soon, Lea xx

LeaLea89 – Hi and thanks for carrying on reading. Gold star!! Well done with the weight loss. I have stayed pretty much the same weight and am happy now. - But boy have I changed shape. All this walking, and especially using the treadmill has really toned me up. I did used to have some cellulite on the tops of my legs but the exercise and the body brushing has got rid of pretty much all of it, thank God.
You have put my mind at rest about Sidney by telling me about Meg. She is still limping round. I have decided she won’t be going for any walks until she can put he paw properly on the floor. I think it might take a couple of weeks. She just seems quite happy mooching round the garden at her own pace.
Hope to hear from you soon x

Yesterday was a nice day even though I had to go to work. I started early and got everything done. If I keep busy at work and its not too bad. I went to the gym straight from work and did 40 minutes on the treadmill. I then had a couple of hours with Sidney. I just pottered about and did a few small jobs in my wash house. It’s almost complete so I set up my old fashioned ceiling airer again and got out all my baskets which I use to store my fruit and veg in. The baskets have all been bought from car boot sales etc and are all old fashioned but they look very shabby chic. Hopefully everything will be fully completed by weekend. I just have a couple of sewing jobs to do – make a new cover for Sidney’s dog bed and make some bunting !
I decided to have a further visit to Matalan to try and replace the shoes I had to return a week or so ago. I bought 2 pairs of shoes for £20 – a pair of white leather wedge mules and some white leather dolly shoes. I should get plenty of wear out of them. I went straight to visit my aunty after Matalan and stayed an hour or so.
When I got home I was really tired and only had time for tea and a quick read before going to bed.
Anyway I hope everyone had a great moneysaving day x :)
