Well, yesterday I've started switch to Scottish Power's Online Fixed Price Energy April 2014 tariff, after I couldn't fix with EDF on traiff I wanted on Friday after their price increase & tariff change.

I tried to phone Sciottish Power quote line yesterday, to secure 24 hour quote on above tariff, & got message this service unavailable, they are updating system, so thought they might be changing tariffs, scrapping one I want & that yesterday might be last day of this tariff.

    So started switch online straightaway.

Overall I should come out better than if I had fixed with EDF on their May 14 Fixed tariff I wanted, withdrawn on Friday, and save money, £60 or save £130 against EDF's new standard tariff rate which starts in December.

Scottish and Southern might be the way ahead for me Peter999, but hanging on for a little while longer!

Scottish Power withdrew above April 2014 tariff yesterday and replaced with Online Fixed Price Energy May 2014 tariff.

I also notice that both EDF & Scottish Power introduced cancellation charges on their replacement fixed tariifs they just introduced.

    I switched just in time.

LET’S SWITCH FOR CHEAPER ENERGY PRICES – CAROLINE FLINT IN SOUTH EAST NORTHUMBERLAND

Caroline Flint MP, Labour’s Shadow Energy and Climate Change Secretary, said:

"Millions of families face a winter of misery after the latest round of price hikes by the energy giants.

"It’s not good enough for out of touch Ministers to tell people to shop around. We need a One Nation government to break the dominance of the energy giants, simplify tariffs and protect vulnerable customers from being ripped off.

"Labour would introduce a tough new energy regulator with the power to force energy companies to pass on savings to consumers, automatically put over-75s on the cheapest deal and simplify their tariffs. Unless Ministers get to grips with spiralling energy bills, people will rightly think that this Government is completely out of touch with families and pensioners struggling to make ends meet."
