I'm glad mine is fixed until 2014. But it's going to be a shock difference when it comes to shopping around in 2014 by the look of it.
In 2014 we will probably have 30% more expensive fixed rates than they are now and ironically we will be calling them "the best deals".
The good thing about standard tariffs is you don't get this sort of shocker and all price increases you digest gradually. Still it cost you more.0 -

I've recently been informed that some local 'chairs' (2) are claiming up to £12,000 per annum as clothing allowance, wonder if they buy nice warm coats with their allowance whilst they sit in their little limousines ?
Old people are dying jobdone1 and this is going on under our very noses daily!!!:(:(:(
Someone needs to get a grip!!!!!!:mad::mad:
110% Agreed its disgusting.
And as for camerons answer well he back pedaled on that within hours because he has no control.
The banks ran this country for years not the goverment thats why we are where we are at with this long recesion that we have come back out of for a secound time.
Now the energy companies are running the country and not the goverment.0 -

@ post 33.
"Now the energy companies are running the country and not the goverment."
Latest from the government, which appears to back up your statement Jobdone1 and I quote:
"The Government cannot control rising and volatile world energy prices, but there are a number of ways it can help consumers cut their energy bill and get a better deal from the market."
How many more switching sites do we need? How many more homes need insulating? How many more homes need new Boilers...
How many more old folk will Die because they cannot heat their homes? etc etc etc etc...0 -

Correct even if they have nice new boilers and have some lovely new wall insulation their bills just keep riseing. Point is inflation is current 2.2% so how on earth are they allowed to raise the fixed price tarrif by 19% O YES BECAUSE THEY CALL IT A NEW NAME AND MAKE IT LAST A LITTLE LONGER, Which then allows them to increase 10.8% thats 8.6% above inflation just on the standered tarriff alone ahhhhhh :mad:0 -
Just a few days ago I was 'cold called' by EDF. They told me their Blue Tariff 14 would save me money....I checked and it saved pence, so not worth the bother. Now in a matter of days we have the 15 Tariff which was not even mentioned. but if i had switched then no doubt somewhere in the small print i would probably have paid the price......Like I said Jobdone1,
Some one needs to get a grip!!!!!
BFN, and enjoy a pint.........:):):)0 -
how much longer can this continue...seriously.
Many households are now at breaking point trying to pay energy bills.
Want to know why nobody has any money to boost the economy. it because the energy companies keep just pushing the price up as far as they can. and make 1.6 billion in profits.
There is no competition like with supermarkets or airlines. They are all in bed with each other. Was this what was promised when they got privatised? Endlessly higher bills that take more and more of a % of the family income?
We do not live in a democracy anymore... we live to line rich companies wallets.
we can live with this or change it.
take it back i say. by whatever means needed.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

Me too, I fixed last year until March 2014, but as you say it will be one hell of a shock when that finishes. Still at least we know where we stand for the next two winters:)
Perhaps by 2014 the price will be on the way down.......;)Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

I spoke to EDF yesterday to try get my revised direct debit down after annual review.
I was thinking to swop yesterday to Blue+ Price Promise May 2014.
I'd recently done my own calculations, checked on Uswitch, realised I should have swopped earlier.
Was quoted earlier in year but didn't swop, too busy, Blue+Sep2013, quoted in May, when my Energy Saver tariff came to end, then Blue+Apr2014 quoted in August.
Decided to leave to today to phone back.
Left it 1 day & it was 1 day too many !!
I am furious once I saw the price rise & checked rates.
