There is something missing from this story - a receptionist would not be allowed to treat a patient. As the PCT are saying this person is allowed to treat patients, he must be qualified/ authorised to do so (not necessarily as a physio). You need to clarify exactly what his role is - could he be a physio assistant?

At the physio practice I go to (in a private hospital) there are no receptionists....the physios all take it in turns to be on reception. Things are not always as they appear...

You can check whether he is a regsitered Physio here

    http://www.hpc-uk.org/check/

He might also be a physio assistant and might be allowed to provide certain remedial therapies under instruction from a qualified physiotherapist.

OK - so did the 'physio' chap make these enquiries with the school and the GP before, during or after your complaint about him?

    After the complaint

Either way, there should be a decision log which has recorded the concerns and the decision to make a report to social services.

    where would I find this?

The physio my daughter went to in jointly funded by the council and NHS. It is a large building with about 20+ treatment rooms and a large reception area - there are two receptionists, I have spoken to the male receptionist before when booking appointments etc and he is very clearly a receptionist! we asked about qualifications when we complained and was told he had no 'higher education' qualifications - so that rules him out of being a physio/assistant, perhaps the centre was busy that day and he was asked to treat my daughter - I don't know? but it would make sense as to why the PCT are not taking action against this man.

Have you asked for reasons as to why they are taking no action?
    It all seems very odd.

Thanks - I'll do that, but I know my daughter has never talked to him before other than to tell him she is here for an appointment with *** at such and such a time - that's it! Her physiotherapist is a lovely women and they chat mainly about music as her son is in a band - she has never been asked about her mental health etc she has never expressed any problems with mental health etc - its just ridiculous that a complete stranger can phone up a GP and get information on my daughter when even her parents are barred from doing this! unbelievable!!
I really think the guys a nutter!!!

Yes - we even went to our MP about it! The letter they sent was that our complaints process has now been exhausted and we can go to the public service ombudsman if we still remain unhappy. and the MP got a letter back saying that they cannot discuss it with him as they are still in discussions with us!

We have not taking it to the ombudsman yet as my father died shortly after all of this and I have been too busy mourning him and settling his estate.

OP, why are you getting hung up on what your GP can and can't disclose when you've got some loon pretending to be a physiotherapist meddling in your daughter's life?

Seems to me that you're focussing on completely the wrong issue.

ETA: I posted this before your post above which does suggest that you're trying to get things sorted with regard this fake physio. Again, you're dripfeeding the story.

TBH, it all sounds a bit far-fetched to me but perhaps that's due to the way you're disclosing information bit by bit. I keep wondering what bombshell you're going to drop next and whether you'll reach a point where I cease to believe any of it.

I think you need to find out what the guy's job title is.

Would you be able to go back to the person you were in contact with in regards to the initial complaint, and ask for clarification about his role?
