just been reading this thread as i have joined some MS companies and after looking at retail eyes assignments i was daunted by the questionnaires and thinking i would never remember to do everything they ask so thought maybe it wasnt for me. having just been accepted with tns though i have just applied for and been successful with my first job. dont know if i can actually say what it is on here or not so some guidance would be good :)

not doing in until 4 nov so waiting for the info to come through. there was also another job i could easily do in the same day at a different store but it refused me that but i could do it the next day but will wait and see how i get on with this one first i think. wish me luck :)

    regards

    hi carol :)

i was exactly the same when i first started ,thinking OMG i will never remember all the details, sequence of events etc !!

there have been times where ive forgotten to note what shops are either side etc ! lol ,and one time where i forgot to get a receipt ,doh !!

but all in all its been fine, once i get back to the car ,out of sight i jot the most important details down,or as stated above input it into your mobile phone ;)

it gets easier with each assignment i find,as you get used to / remember what details they require and it becomes second nature to observe certain things

even if you arent doing an assignment........... or is that just me ? lmao

the times ive been in a shop / restaurant etc thinking " ooooooh i wish i was mystery shopping you ,cos you are useless " lol

good luck with it ,you will be fine :)

    thanks rachie

i can imagine i would be like you whereas if i am getting bad service which tends to be a lot these days i would like to be mystery shopping them. im looking forward to it and it seems much less daunting than the retail eyes one. have very vague details at the moment but doesnt seem to be too hard. its a electrical store and i have to reveal myself as a mystery shopper, you can probably guess being a shopper yourself who it is. hope they wont feel like ive wasted their time. they might think its a wind up or maybe ill be given something to hand over to proove it. i have also read that some clients get a ms to hand out rewards, i bet thats nice when that happens. we always complain when we get bad service but how many of us praise when we get good i wonder.

anyway thanks again for your post.
    regards

im doing my first one like that next week ;)
my sister has done one,as have a few on this thread :)

they wont think you have wasted their time, they will be thinking oh fook have i done ok :rotfl:

when my sister revealed herself they were like  i thought the mystery shopper for this area was a man :rotfl: ,
another store nearby had called them up that morning to say they had just been mystery shopped by a man and described him ,so they were looking out for someone completely different :rotfl:

at the end of the day ,mystery shopping plays a bit part in retail so wouldnt worry about it

its for them to worry about :p

thanks again. yes i suppose they will be more worried about how they have done rather than me wasting their time pretending to buy something. im looking forward to it and im sure it will be fine.

  • They are suddenly RREALLY nice to you, when you reveal yourself as a MS! :D

(Actually this is a bit unfair, as the store I shopped were excellent anyway. The manager said 'I know you can't tell me, but I'll be interested to read yr report as the assistant is new - it's her first week - and I think she shows great promise'. She's actually done really well against any criteria - brilliant for a new person, so it was nice to think she was going to get recognised for it :D
