    hi
urgent help needed here! I have just completed a clothing shop assigment for grassroots, in my brief I had to make a purchase and it stated a minimum of £5. I saw a nice top for £15 so bought that. Now when I go to key in the results its saying that the £5 maximum has been exceeded? its sat so none is going to be available till mon and their office. Should I key in the results but put in £5 instead of £15? this is my first assigment and I really dont want to mess it up! please help lol dont know what to do!

If you're referring to the 'expenses' bit on the first page when keying back results, where you put the visit date, time etc. You can't claim more than was allowed when offered the assignment/stated in the brief. Did they say they would give you £5 towards your shopping? If so then that is the maximum you can claim back.

no gzil, it states that you can keep the item or return it but they will not pay the money back

  • If you are sure that the instructions said a MINIMUM of £5, then I wouldn't worry, just put in £15 and let their software (which is often faulty  ) sort itself out! They won't mind that you've spent more as long as they didn't state a maximum. :D

I long for the 'good old days' when one company used to send you to M & S and tell you to spend £15, which was refunded. Hard work actually as I could never decide which of the delicious meals to buy in the food bit! :D

it just means they'll only refund £5 of your shopping. I did a few chemist ones and spent over £5 as stated, they just refund the maximum of £5

We run our own chocolate-making business and I also do mystery shopping now (many thanks to Beccles, without whom I wouldn't have learned half so much). Everything goes on the same form at the end. You can either show it as separate during the year and total it up at the end, or you could run all SE things together. Keep your paperwork as simple as possible and keep all your receipts.

    thank you lee

like i mentioned before, some of my receipts i had to send off to the MS companies

i didnt make copies of them :(
what will happen when i come to fill in the tax form if i am missing receipts?!!

I think if you have one or two missing, but can show from your documentation to the ms company you should be fine. I know I don't have every receipt - we just try to be as honest as possible. We have a fax machine that can copy which is very handy.

  • Better than a fax - scan them into your computer (and take regular backups!)

Saves lots of nasty little bits of paper floating around........;)
