I was under the impression that Banks have to act fairly and reasonably and so aren't allowed to vindictively close somebody's account just because they have made a complaint?0

It was an easy process with Barclaycard. I wrote to them, They wrote back specifying they would pay me the full charges back. Easy process. I had a balance with them and their was never a mention of me paying all of it back now.
I would not worry, go ahead and claim quick as its only the last 6 years you can claim for. Time is ticking..No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Yes they credited the charges back to my account and I paid off the balance over 6 months. I could have still used the card but chose not too.No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

HI, just saw this so don't know if am in time to help or not. can only tell you that my husband put in claim with LTSB who made a first offer which he declined and he asked for the full amount which they did pay to him. They probably sent a standard first offer letter but you are entitled to the full amount back so you should still claim for the full amount, even if you do owe a balance, they should clear the balance that you owe and then refund the difference directly to you which is what happened in my husbands case.
you can claim for bank charges which are on hold and you can claim for credit card charge refunds which are not on hold.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
I've gone through the step by step guide as advised on this site.
Please read this section on the Credit Card Reclaim guide, that explains what you can do if the court tries to stay a Credit Card claim:
