Can someone please tell me how long it took to hear from Cap1 after submitting their claim of charges. My accounts adds up to £244 without int, & hubbies £950.00.
Sent 26th April. No reply yet?
Hiya - they took about 2 weeks to reply to my first letter asking for a refund of charges. They offered me a reduced amount (difference between £12 and £20 per charge) and a cheque arrived 2 days later. I wrote back and said I'd accept it only as a partial refund and without prejudice, but intended to pursue the rest through the County Court if they didn't settle in full. That letter got sent a few days ago..... waiting to hear what happens next.
Good luck,
Pam0 -
I have to say that Capitol One have helped me alot in the past with charges, I had to make a minium payment agreed between me and them, and provided I made that payment without default they refunded me all my charges back to the account including my fee for going over my limit. They done this for 6 months until I was well and truly under my limit.0

Why did they send a cheque - is it an old account?
Our accounts are still active so was wondering if they would just credit the account with any partial offer?Hiya - they took about 2 weeks to reply to my first letter asking for a refund of charges. Well today is the 5th May - I know its till early days - but all these success stories are making me impatient!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still have not had a reply from Cap1 regarding my claim or my hubbies.
Natwest - have not replied with the statments as yet either - made a boo-boo. Sent the letter 7th April, but because some banks charge and others dont etc, I asked them to inform me if there was a charge. They did this quite swiftly, the letter went out on 18th April with the p.o. So I pressume I have to give them 40 days from the 18th April????
So won't be receiving those for a while. The funny thing is - I have now written to 9 banks/credit companies to instigate reclaims. Frightening!
Had a result also, because I read that mortgage companies could possibly owew MEAF, so phoned today and was told I am owed £35 in the post. YIIIPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wont leave the country yet!!!!You're welcome
I think Capital One's letter to me was a bog standard response, and I'm sure they'll back down and give me a full refund once I show them I mean business - I'll take it to court if necessary, even though it's only for a few hundred pounds (I say 'only' but actually it'd be great help to me to get it back)
When I wrote to them, I stated that I only wanted payment by cheque (was lucky to be able to clear my credit card balance recently, and don't plan to use the card again, especially since they've hiked up the interest rate)
Look forward to hearing how you get on,
Pam0 -
i sent initial letter requesting charges, and got a list of them withuin 3 weeks. i worked them all out and sent off requesting the amount £600+ inc % and they never replied within the 14 days so sent my LBA and 3 days later i got a reply saying they are looking into it and would let me know in 4 weeks. sorry capitalone but that will be too late as i start MCOL next friday 11/05/07 :Thalifax bank claimed £4803 (£5863.88 inc%) paid £6143.29 :j
CapitalOne card claiming £478 (£609.18 inc%) paid £689.71 :j
Citicards claiming £700 (£888.23 inc%)
halifax bank (account 2) claiming £543.15 (£564.09 inc%) put on hold due to OFT outcome0 -

In my first letter to them, requesting a refund of charges, I asked them to send any payment by cheque. This is because I paid off my balance owed thanks to a tax refund. I told them I didn't plan to use my card again any time soon, therefore didn't want any monies credited to my account. Have to say, I've found Capital One much easier to deal with than nasty Nastywest.

I sent the letter dated 27th April giving list of charges- I checked on royal mail, but it wasnt signed for until the 7th. DO I take the 14 days from the
27th or the 7th?
Thanks0 -

Just a little help required with my MCOL against Capital One.
I have had a partial offer of £72 from my original claim of £252.00 and despite writing to advise them that i would reject this offer they have still sent me a cheque for the offer amount. ( Ive cashed the cheque by the way and wiIl be using the funds to pay for the claim - ironic eh? ) I am now in the process of completing a claim through MCOL and not sure how to complete the particulars of claim section as the amount im claiming now is less than my original letter. Do I need to state Ive had a partial payment or simply just make a claim for the amount that they still have to pay? any help from someone who has made similar claim would be appreciated!!
Thanks in anticipation!!0 -
I got my list of charges through fairly quickly from them, it took about 4 weeks in all.0
