Thank you nickmack but I'm having a hard time locating any 'specific' mention of the above items. Disregard them or include them. I promise you I've surfed... the forums. Even now I'm looking through cap one 'merged'. Great idea to merged.

I've claimed twice off Capital One for credit cards and I claimed for late payments fees and overlimit charges if that helps :)

Just scrolling through and saw your post with the detail at the bottom

Just wanted to commend you. :A

Just at the first stages of getting 6 years info from a few banks and credit cards and quite worried about it
    It gives us all hope!

I was at first too - it can be quite scary at times and believe me you will get some replies from banks making you think you should just give up but don't.

At the end of the day it's your money so go get it :)

Hi there, thanks to this forum ive reclaimed some of my charges from Capital One, they sent me a letter a couple of days ago offering me £88 against £366

In this letter they (as quoted: I've reviewed your account and, as a matter of goodwill, I'd like to reduce the fees we've added to your account to £12 each. Ive refunded this total of £88.00)

Now this refund that they offered is not equating to the charges being put down to £12. From my calculations they are a out by approx £64

they reduced all charges to £12 according to the letter
so i should have been refunded: £152.

Is it that they just chose a partial amount and decided to refund that to me

I dont want to look like clown if it goes to court lol
ive gone through the charges about 10 times to make sure i didnt mis-calculate it.

Should i just go ahead and send them the 2nd letter thanking them for the partial refund
and explaining im taking this further as i want it all back?

any comments / advice would be great

    many thanks

    Hello

By my calculation I got £116.

If they are reducing all charges to £12 then it would be

    14 x £6
    4 x £8

Then I wouldn't add extra on for the occasion when you received £20 back.

    Hope this helps

I personally would go all the way. Claim it all
  • I was scrolling through some threads about a month ago and I was sure I read somewhere that capital one were sending people their 6 years of statements if they called and asked rather than them sending the standard £10 with a letter.
Am I correct or was I reading about something else?

i have requested £555 from capital one. they have made an offer by letter of £152 but not as a refund only as a reduction of fees from £20 to £12 from start of my account aug 04 to the time when the charges were reduced.
do i accept this or send next letter threatening court action?
    has anyone else tried this?
    does it work
    thanks
    jane:confused:

i sent £10 which they paid of my account and never sent statements.
so i rang and they said they do not charge and they sent them within 4 days
    good luck

  • Hi Indebted2uRen79

I phoned cap1 yesterday to request my statement and was lucky to speak to a nice lady (makes a change for them). When I asked if she could tell me when to expect them she informed me that they were working on the 26 Mar (I assume requests) so approx 2 weeks - She said there has been a lot of requests - no kiddin!!!

    Hope this helps!

Just curious to know if this has happened to anyone else. I asked Capital One for 6 years details and instead got a letter listing charges. It was obviously incomplete and I have requested the full details, copy statements if neccessary. Did this happen to anyone else or did you get your statements as requested ? Was this some kind of fob off ? I suspect it was.
  • Hi all

Approx 6 months ago I went to a debt help agency to help me deal with my cap1 card.

Will I still be able to claim my charges back from Cap1 even though I am now paying them through a debt help agency?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated
