Same thing with me and my 17 year old son. We got him insured on my insurance with Quinn, as a learner, and were paying £55 a month.Very reasonable I thought. He passed his test so I rung to tell them and they said it would go up to £106 a month. got a letter a week later telling me the new monthly payment would be £237 a month. Went on a comparison site and found the same cover for £99 a month with another insurer and took that, but whilst I was looking one of the quotes was from Quinn at £108 a month !!??

if you are taking out TP Only cover then you have very few concerns about hoiw the insurer deals with any claim, if you make one of course.

My advice for TP Only customers is to go for the cheapest option - statistically this is the most efficient option for you to do if TP only cover is what you need.

My 17yr old daughter was insured to drive a Nissan Almera, 1999, on a provincial licence, with her 20yrs old brother as the other named driver. He also is learning to drive. The cost for TPFT via Quinn was £771.00 which was the cheapest we could find. When she passed her test last week, it went up £810.00, which again was the cheapest. No other insurance co came near, not even Endsleigh. We tried various options ie on my licence etc, but this still worked out the best option. Not the best situation, but hey, you pay what you have to pay. If people find a better option, dont just slagg off Quinn, give specific details esp. of the better quote. Dont just say 'i went elsewhere', as it doesnt help anyone.

I was with Quinn Direct for three years. I never had any problems with them and they were cheaper than other companies by over £100 each time. Be careful though as they are an under 30s insurance company. I hit that limit this year and they put my insurance up £250 from last year, I have never made any claims and have never had any convictions. With a week to go before renewal they brought the price down by £150 but it was still nowhere hear the cheapest quote. When I rang to say I didn't want to renew because I had a cheaper quote they didn't even try to keep my business, didn't even ask what the other quote was.

As to convictions, they let me insure my partner as an additional driver and he has two convictions.

I hope this helps, but just remember they are a young persons insurance company.

ok folks - seriously do your homework on Quinn, the amount of complaint i hear about these week in week out is unreal. yes they are cheap but then you get what you pay for and often not even that - poor customer service, poor claims handling and whilst they are cheap for provisonal drivers it always goes up hundreds when you pass. anyone who has had a claim with them with tell you to stay well clear of them

Quinn are currently being investigated by the BBC and the city regulators are looking into their practices of doorstepping victims of accidents, even whilst still in hospital, and impersonating claimants solicitors to obtain medical records. As the victim is not their customer they are not covered by the code of practice. Scum of the earth insurers

    Without the profits though :)
Latest indications are that Quinn will post a 58m Euro loss this year.
