Have major complaint with Quinn Direct, they hung me out to dry over 2 years ago as a cost cutting measure, yes u read that right. My experience is they hang frirst then ask quetsions later.
Cheap car insurance means cheap service.
Did all people know that the refund of excess policy paid out by car owners when in accident, can be claimed back from other driver through your insurance company.
Did you also know, no matter who is at fault, Quinn Direct admits ur liability in an accident first because the Policy Book tells them that they are allowed to do this, its on page 12.
Have ongoing complaint that has lasted over 2 years, the FSA in England is due to rule very soon, fingers crossed, I win.
My advice to all people considering this firm, STAY AWAY unless u want to be done over!0 -
Its not strictly true that all Insurers will recover you excess, some will and some won't. Some will only recover it if you have taken their Legal Expense Cover.
In addition all Insurers have a clause in the Policy allowing them to deal with a claim against you in anyway they wish. They are a commercial organisation and will settle claims against their customers at the cheapest way for them.
I don't have much time for Quinn either, hopefully you will understand now that the cheapest policy is not always the best in the long run0 -
Nenoace needs help!
Did Quinn Direct tell u that u cud claim back the refund of excess policy paid after an accident, if they did, its a first.
If not, send a letter to the FSA in England and tell them that they didnt tell u and tell them how u found out about how to claim this back,0 -
I had a TPFT policy with Quinn (8 years NCD) this past year. Never made a claim but they were the cheapest I found at the time. When the time came to renew last month the renewal price was £100 cheaper but I found a fully comp policy with Hughes Insurance for £265 including breakdown cover. I was really chuffed.0

ok i know people always say you hear good and bad about all companies, and yes thats true but working in insurance sales I only ever hear bad things frm new customers about Quinn. teh true worth of a company comes to light when you make a claim, unfortunalty if they are rubbish, by that stage its too late. i'd urge people to read this thread and to seriously think before they take the cheap (in the short term) option. if cheap was best then lidl would be bigger than marks and spencer, its not so it isnt.0

A friend and I both used Quinn direct for third party fire and theft. I would use them again for this - as they were nearly 2-300 cheaper than the next. I never claimed when using them though so have no experience of how they are at dealing with claims.‘It ain’t over 'til it's over’0

My daughter is insured with Quinn Direct and today informed them that she has passed her test. They informed her that they require just over £500 extra to continue her insurance. There is only 6 months running on the policy that she has paid in full for already. We have emailed them and are awaiting their reply. In their paperwork they do state there may be an extra premium to pay but not over £500 for 6 months. We will be cancelling and changing probably to Prudential if they do not waive this.:mad:0

We used Quinn for my stepson learning to drive and once he passed his test, his insurance went up £400. He then purchased a newer car and was involved in an accident. The car was eventually written off but we found out more information from the body repair shop than Quinn. When we phone, they keep saying that a cheque has been issued but thats been a lie everytime, it's going to go to court. So yeah they may be the cheapest but pity help you if you need to make a claim. Don't use this company!0

Hi Frodsquad, Nenoace here, thank you for this information, after my accident, Quinn did not investigate accident and accepted responsibility on my behalf within 3 weeks, my car was a write off, a cheque was also posted to me and a quinn adviser asked me outrite "are you sure u didnt get this and cash this", keep a log off any letters, phonecalls and times and dates to back yourself up as I was basically asked if I committed insurance fraud, I think i would have remembered going to a bank and cashing a cheque for £2900, its not something i wud forget.
Another thing with my complaint, quinn have stated to the Financial Services Ombudsman they conviently do not record phone calls, dispite the recorded message telling u that they do when u phone them!
none of my phone calls were recorded when quinn accused me in the wrong.
Please I urge you to contact the Financial Services about the service you have received from Quinn Direct, I ended up in court as well and it went badly wrong,
Since my complaint with FSA and Police, the police officer involved resigned and a I have a suspicion that earlier in the a big wig from quinn also resigned, due to failure to do their jobs effectively and for other unknown reasons.
not too sure about bigwig but definetely sure about police officer,0 -
After reading the above posts, I felt I had to post about my daughters experience with Quinn.
I sought out insurance for her with Quinn as they were the cheapest quote for a 17 year old learner driver with a 1000cc corsa. It was £800 pounds, fully comp, and I specifically asked at the time would her premium go up when she passed her test. I was told the raise would be, and I quote "very slight to marginal" . Imagine my delight when they told me it was now £2700.
Yes; not a typo, £2700.
My advice to anyone considering taking out insurance with Quinn is Buyer Beware, and go to another company as they are completely untrustworthy.0
