Unfortunately i dont think my dress was in store and i stupidly paid in full on visa debit with zero insurance! the liquidators arent much help either i called them and they confirmed that i did pay in full for the dress but couldnt say whether that meant i would actually get the dress they just kept saying that they had to call the directors whatever that means. i contacted dessy about my bridesmaids dresses and they never received the order so ive no hope of getting them now. im just clinging onto a hope that as Ellis have my order and i have paid in full that i will get them. but i doubt it especially as you paid a deposit and arent even getting that passed to your designer which totally goes against what BGG have stated to me by email (which i have posted previously). they stated in that email that if a bride paid a deposit only the remainder needed to be paid but obviously that isnt happening :(

Nothing they've said in their emails is accurate...they say that they want to help brides with as little upset and inconvenience yet they won't reply to any emails personally or give us helpful details!!

Try not to panic, I know that's easier said than done, everyone said it to me when I found out. I paid by visa debit and was told by the bank to fill in a claim form and that they'd investigate and try and get my money back.

As long as your order has been placed then your dress should be being made, it might mean paying again but you should get your money back.
  • Heres to hoping :)

Hi Crusty....google VISA chargeback...i cant post a link but there is a way to try claim money back on VISA debit and one website gives a template letter to send to the banks. id keep trying i called my bank who was HSBC and they are sending me out dispute forms to try get the money back once BGG are confirmed in liquidation but currently they are keeping us in limbo whilst they "try" to sort our dress

With the Natwest, not got a form yet they said they'd send me one. Apparently you're covered with visa debit like you are with credit card so I'd ring them again

Just found a template of a letter to banks regarding visa chargeback. Hope this helps some people and saves us waiting for banks to send out forms.

  • I am with Lloyds Tsb and i paid a deposit on my dress with my visa debit card but was only due to get measured this saturday so i know for a fact they hadnt ordered my dress. My bank have informed me i can claim the money back off them for non receipt of goods so im presuming anyone who paid this way can get theirs backs too. It may take a while but at least you can get your money back:T
  • Hello all,

I paid a deposit (by debit card) on an Ellis dress in the Preston branch back in August in time for my wedding in April. I've emailed TBGG twice and received vague, automated replies both times - in fact someone a couple of pages ago posted an email they'd received and it was exactly the same as the 2nd reply I got! Unbelieveable! :(

This evening I've emailed Ellis bridal to see if they received my original order and if I can complete it with them directly or something. We can hope, eh!?

Good luck to everyone else in the same situation as me, here's to hoping we will pull through.
  • Hi, just thought i would let anyone know that my dress was delivered today in one piece i am so so relieved so if there is still anyone waiting for a dress that was in store have the piece of mind they are delivering them. I do hope that you all get sorted soon and can enjoy and look forward to your big day, i feel so excited now i have my dress and only 8 weeks to go. Keep positive and everything will work out, i know its hard to think like that as i couldnt before, but it will be fine. Good luck x
