Just had my eyebrows done today (have neglected them of late!) Anyways to cut a long story short, i went to our local college & was charged the princely sum of 2 pounds! I was really impressed & have booked to go back again after half term to have my eye lashes tinted! Dont know if many people know these services are offered by many local colleges! Now im debt free i want to be fat free too!0

i knew they did hair but didnt realise they do eyebrows etc thanks for that.0

It does depend on which courses the college runs but the college my daughter is at has a whole range of beauty treatments along with hairdressing. If you check your local college you should find a price list on their website.0

As edinbugh lass says- you should check beforehand, but our college does all sorts, they do electrolysis, wraps, nails, pretty much everything you get in a salon, for less than half the price! Now im debt free i want to be fat free too!0

I sometimes go to the local college. Last time I went I had a deluxe manicure (would have cost about £35 in the shops). It was £10, but the girl smudged my polish so the teacher redid it and I only paid £6.0

Hiya,
Has anyone ever had their hair cut by a trainee hairdresser (When salons advertise)
I`m considering this, but dont know exactly how it works, do they cut it for free? Offer a discount? Is it just a cut you can have or anything? And most importantly, do they totally B****r your hair up?
Many thanks

I have had my cut by a 3rd year trainee by the time it had been washed, cut and styled it took about 2 hours.
It cost me nothing as that was the deal.
Husband often has his cut by trainees as it save him at least £3 every time and he gets a decentish cut.
What you get depends on the salon one a few miles away offer a cut for £5 on a certain day not used them but might have to soon as not had my hair cut by hairdresser for about year now. My mother normal trims the ends off for me cheap and free.

I think once upon a time a lot of salons offered this for free, but these days a lot ask a fee. A few years back I had free haircuts at the toni and guy academy nr oxford street, london. More locally though one salon would have trainee app's available which were totally free and you could have cuts, colours...whatever you wanted. These days I think toni and guy salons do trainee cuts for about £10, but when I went there 4 or 5 yrs back they told me when to go in as their trainees only did certain cuts on certain days so you had to fit in with their schedule. you may find smaller salons are more accommodating to your needs. Its worth a go though, if you were unhappy with the cut, no salon manager would let you walk away without sorting it themselves. Although, do allow yourself a couple of hours as trainees take their time!Fight for clean hospitals, C-DIFF takes lives

dd had hers done at 'the rainbow room' for free. they had a sign in the window for models, took her name and called her later when they needed her. they wanted people who didn't mind having 'wild' haircuts, though.
she told me this was done by professional staff who regularly had sessions like this where they got to be creative and then critiqued each other's work.
i got a standard haircut for myself (the way i asked for it) at the local college that teaches students. just had to go in to the college, find out what day they did it and make an appointment. it was mostly parents of students.it was good job but took about 4 hours to do. the teacher made corrections at the end. it cost my £2 but you had to pay more for a student in their final year.0 -
Just be prepared for it to take twice (or longer!) than normal for the trainees do cut and style your hair, as they are (understandably) not as speedy as trained hairdressers, and they often have to wait for their boss to finish what they are doing before they can ask questions or get them to check the style. Mine usually takes 45mins to an hour, and last time I had a trainee it took almost 3 hours!! And I don't have long hair! So what you save in money you may loose in time.
It was fine when I was a poor student as I had time spare but now I'm working I prefer to pay for it to be done professionally.
