I was expecting this to happen, i was lucky that i got my £55 deal by picking my items up.

I also brought the £10 membership and £72 for the 12 month deal, i brought these on 10 Nov through paypal and money taken direct from my debit card through barclays. I did get 2 of my hampers from this deal.

I am outside paypals 45 days and i phoned barclays and they said there is nothing i can do as they dont dispute paypal claims? how come its different for other people or banks. I am really confussed.

    Any ideas would be great.

Edit: just seen others have a problem with barclays too.

I'm with barclays too. I haven't called them yet, I was trying to read through the thread and work out what to do. Paypal take from my bank account, so I suspect I'll be told it's a direct debit. I was only just out of the 45 days for Paypal too :(

    How did you guess?
  • I have just been on to a !!!! from the Halifax bank for 42 minutes and am now more cross with the bank than with Norfolk Hampers!
I could not speak directly with the Direct Debit Indemnity team (?) and had to rely on back and forth information. was cut off from my first call, so not sure where that would have taken me, but my conversation with this !!!! was useless.
I am told that I cannot use the indemnity 'thing' because I paid via paypal. Explained that the funds came from my bank, but was just told I had to contact paypal.
Have raised a complaint, for all the good it will do me.

I've just had exactly the same experience with Halifax! I was on the phone for 50 minutes, being transferred from one person to the next, until the last person totally pushed me out of the system and forwarded me to Lloyds! I immediately rang back, to be told Halifax's policy regarding direct debits, does not include payments made to PAYPAL.

I purchased the 12 month deal, paid via PAYPAL but funds came from the bank. Was just outside the 45 day window when all the Christmas stuff happened, so only option I had was to see if he'd honour the order. :(

So lost the money with no other options now.

A word of caution...... l was in Farepak way back when they collapsed and we were told about this BUT all the bank does is try and reclaim the money from the company concerned.

If he's in liquidation - as was Farepak - they cannot get their money back and will take it off you again when they find out.

Please clarify this issue with your bank urgently.

You maybe covered because you paid by Visa Debit and are covered by Visa itself - not the DD Indemnity Scheme.

The Co op said they claim the money back from Paypal, so hopefully it will be found in my favour, I am a little worried still incase Paypal then decide to chase me for the money, but then surely they would have to prove thy supplied the goods etc to me??

The way I am looking at it, all be it hopeful, is that ok I paid Paypal, they then sent this money onto NHC and so my contract was with Paypal (do you think Paypal would accept this lol?)

Worse come to worse, I still have the details from my original conversation with Coop regarding how to do a Visa Dispute so will go down that route if it doesn't come to anything with the refund promised.

Im sure when I paid through Paypal, it said that the funds were coming from my xxxx card, which was the long number on my debit card, and it didn't state that it was coming directly out of my bank account, so then I would be covered by the Visa dispute I think.

I don't know lol, gave up on ever seeing this money again, so if something does come back then I will be happy !! I wont stop trying though :rotfl:

Oh and Coop know he has ceased trading and even put that down on the claim, so they know they wouldn't stand a chance of claiming it back off him.

First of all not once have i called you a bad person.I was just pointing out how your posts conflict. But if you say you got the gut feeling later why didnt you have the guts to come on this thread to tell other people ie lack of stock in the shop etc.And no i did not purchase any hampers but at least i stand by what i have posted.and if my posts have stopped just a few people from adding to Neils holiday fund then i am happy.

Candy I have no wish to argue with you. You lobbied against these deals from the beginning. You have been proved right but you jump on anyone who puts anything positive on here.

Anyway there'll be no further contributions from me. I wish you all well.
