I wonder how many people ordered from him here
http://www.idealhomeshowchristmas.co.uk/exhibitors?exhbid=18551-the-norfolk-hamper-company
and got caught out by him too!
He must have had some idea that things were getting too much for him to handle before then judging by how many people did not get their hampers from previous to this date.'We can get over being poor, but it takes longer to get over being ignorant'

I also took out the £90 deal which I was too late to get a refund from paypal for and unfortunately for me my husband had been selling on ebay and so my payment was taken from funds he had put in. I received one of the hampers from the deal so am down a minimum of £60. The hampers I got were well worth it and we still have some things left so maybe I could say I got reasonable value for money which is luckier than most other people.
Sadly, I am not surprised by the collapse of the business, perhaps I saw the writing was on the wall when I visited the shop - just a gut feeling at the lack of stock on display and then all of the failed deliveries and refunds etc.
My son's partner has relatives in Caister so I will ask them to keep an eye on the shop. I am not too far away myself and so may take a trip through to see what might be going on.
Like some others I had been promised a hamper next week, which considering I could not get a refund I was going to have.
I may or may not log this with the CAB - I have yet to decide. One thing I do know is I will not buy hampers in this way again.
We live and learn.
If you saw the writing on the wall when you visited the shop, then why did you give it such a glowing report [ post 495 ]maybe if less people had come on this thread to sell this company then more people would have cancelled earlier.Sorry i know you are not the only one but it is posts like yours [ post 495 ] that encouraged more people to line Neils pockets.0 -

The hampers were good value for the deals and I was able to change some of them and then chose my £30 hamper. My husband was with me and he was also impressed and my 5 year old granddaughter was very excited delighted with the little santa sack she got from one of the hampers. They are beautifully presented. Some in baskets and others in little hampers with straps on. The contents are nice and in line with what I have become used to in a hamper. I have had a hamper from them recently which was well received by the recipient . As my husband said they are just a couple trying to make a living and I wish them well.

Hi
This is the reply from the insolvency service:Thank you for your e-mail yesterday. Please note that the Insolvency Enquiry Line deals only with general queries relating to insolvency in England and Wales and cannot provide
advice, only information. On information obtained from the Companies House website: and the London Gazette website: there is currently no record of the company The Norfolk Hamper Company Limited (CRO: 08130134) being in any formal insolvency procedure. However, having said that it may be that the company is intending to go down the route of 'Striking Off'? If that is the case it is my understanding that the company would need to cease trading for 3 months and then apply to Companies House. At this point there will be no record of that action.I can only suggest that you contact either Companies House or ourselves say once a month to see if there is any further information. Instead of e-mailing the Enquiry Line you may wish to telephone for the information in which case you should ring 0845 602 9848.I hope that this is of help.0 -
as Neil will not now be wanting my 2 substandard hampers back I ate a sweet from one . it was horrible! they'd wrapped sweets like jelly cola bottles in plastic and put them in a smelly Hessian bag and the sweets smell and taste awful .
credit card chargeback proceedings begun . owed £117.:hello: The grass is not greener, it just looks that way from a distance :hello:0 -
Has anyone taken legal advice yet?
There is plenty of evidence of negligence, and the lies, two director numbers etc prove intent. He should be prosecuted for wrongful trading.0 -

PayPal and Bank enquiries - 22 January 2013
Following enquiries from consumers, this information may clarify the situation for customers who have paid The Norfolk Hamper Company via their PayPal account, but where the funds came partially or wholly from their bank account and not their PayPal account.
- PayPal have a 45 day limit for claims which starts on the day payment is made.
- If you are within the 45 day limit it is advisable in the first instance to claim a refund through PayPal. Some banks require you to go through the PayPal process first.
- If you are outside of the 45 day claim limit, some banks will deal with claims up to 120 days. However this may depend on whether the whole claim can be resolved within the 120 days.
- If you are claiming between 45 and 120 days, when you contact the bank you should make clear that you are outside PayPal’s claim period, but within the 120 day period.
- If you are outside the 120 day period, you could consider taking legal action but you would have to pay a court fee and there is no guarantee that you will get your money back.

Well, im in shock!! I thought I would phone my bank to see if they could help me in any way, I wasn't holding out much hope as others have failed via this route, but am so pleasantly surprised, that I could not thank the man enough !!
I bank with the Co-op, bog standard Cashminder account. I phoned them and asked about putting in a claim for Visa Debit chargeback, man did not have a problem and told me all the things I needed to do, ie print off all emails and details of order, then fax through etc.
I was happy at that, but he's just called me back, I thought he was going to give me bad news, but its just got better!!
Because it went via Paypal, (he never realised this until after we had ended call) he said that I don't have to fax or print out any documents as it is classed as a Direct Debit (heart sank at this moment), and so he had mis-informed me of what I could do etc.
He apologised profusely, and then went on to tell me the great news, he was filling out a form for me to claim against the Direct Debit Indemnity Scheme, and I did not have to do a thing as he had all the details already etc.
AND my money will be credited into my account within 24 hours !!!!!!!
He said all I have to do is to check my account tomorrow and if it isn't there, phone up and chase them
I cant believe that they will refund my payment from October, had kissed it goodbye, but thought I would just double check just incase, so pleased I did !! And to not even have to go to the trouble of printing off emails etc, just one phone call did it all (well 2 if you count him phoning me back and apologising!!)
To all out there, give your bank a ring!! Worth a shot, if they say no to the chargeback, then say you want to claim under the direct debit indemnity scheme.
WELL DONE CO OP BANKI am one very happy bunny now, and will be over the moon tomorrow when my money is safely back into my account lol !! Fingers xd for everyone, its the price of a call, so do it, you never know you might just get a refund !!

Well well, why does it not surprise me that you felt it necessary to point out what a bad person I am for relating a postive experience. What I wrote was the truth about what I experienced at the time, my gut feeling came later. At the point I collected my hampers why would I need to assume that it would all go this way.
I don't have to justify myself to you or anyone else for the decision I took to purchase hampers from this company. I am not responsible for what happened so don't try and heap any guilt on me as I have done absolutely nothing wrong. You didn't purchase and have lost nothing. Well done you.0
