He had £80 of mine from September 16th until December 30th with no intention of supplying any products, and he only refunded the money when forced to by Trading Standards and the sheer weight of customers he ripped off. Even taking into account the fact that he took on more work than he could handle, and also that he kept offering deal after deal, you cannot ignore the fact that he told countless lies to hundreds of people and let 99% of his "customers" down by either supplying late goods, substandard goods, or worst of all, no goods at all. On top of that, there are numerous people who have reported on here that they had trouble with this moron even before the Christmas fiasco, having to constantly chase up late orders or query missing items. I simply cannot believe how stupidly blind some people are. My advice to everyone who has given him money is get it back. He is too stupid to run a business.
I couldn't agree more plus I feel pretty upset about all of it as I also wanted the 2 hampers per month as otherwise I would not have placed an order. My family live away from me so it was a way to have a nice present delivered when I cant actually take it or see them myselves. So disheartening to hear that some people are willing to continue with their packages as this company does not deserve to have loyal customers. plus makes me feel like i was a second class customer that they never even wanted as they could not send me anything I had ordered and I had pre-ordered my hampers for Dec through to Feb and yet other people get theirs and more than they expected fine. So some customers are treated well and the rest like me they only wanted our money to tide themselves over and were never going to actually send us out anythingthank goodness other companies are not like this plus if anyone knows of a DECENT small hamper business I am still hoping to find a company where I can order a hamper a month to be delivered to different addresses as presents - I just need to know they are reliable after this major fiasco

People who have ordered the 6-month deal don't have much choice though, do they? They can't ask for a refund because the goods aren't late, and by the time then end of Jan comes they will be out of time with Paypal for making a claim if the goods don't arrive.0 -
Fingers crossed that this week brings a refund to those of us that haven't received hampers yet...

you know, whilst I think it's sad that some haven't got what they ordered, I don't think it's right to jump on the band wagon of telling all and sundry to get their money back.
the company have admitted that they made a big mistake . let them rectify it and move on.
I had a particularly bad experience with m&s flowers delivering my mum on mother's day flowers that were a. half the size I paid for and b. dying. it was rectified and that was that£2 Savers Club #156!

I too had a bad experience ordering chocolate hampers from Thorntons, the difference is when i phoned them to discuss the issues 1. They answered the phone (took a while on hold i will admit)
2. They were not rude to me and say it was my fault!
3. Straight away i was given options of a full refund or alternative products!
I do believe that if NHC had handled this whole issue in a professional and courteous manner, and accepted the blame when speaking to the media this thread would not be so long. They possibly might not have lost so many customers and potential customers!0 -
I'm glad you had good customer service from Thorntons, I placed an order but no confirmation email, checked bank money gone out but Thorntons said I had not ordered with them & made me out to be a liar - eventually I got my money back & the order free but it took a LOT of hassle.2023 wins - Rice Krispies, Avene Micellar Gel, Barbie Toy, £20 Apple Gift Card, KFC 6 piece bargain bucket, Chloe Nomade perfume, Barbie Toy (second one), Sanctuary Spa Sleep Balm, E45 Moisturising Lotion, Trolls Hamper, 12 Tonie Characters, Sure deodorant, Good Home Utensil holder, £5 Costa Gift Card, Neutrogena Micellar Jelly, Soap & Glory Mascara, Persil capsules,0

I think that's where the problem lies. They have not admitted their mistakes in any honest or up front way whatsoever.
In fact, they've lied regarding deliveries and contents, posted unpleasant comments on Twitter, ignored emails, phone calls etc, and reported unhappy customers posting to the police! They have kept people's money for a long period of time, and ensured anyone requesting refunds or cancellations have to jump through as many hoops as possible, either through small claims, PayPal or credit card. Their actions have ensured that many many people are upset, let down and out of pocket at a very important time of year for so many. They have been as difficult and obstructive as possible for a large number of customers, hence Trading Standards taking an active role, and the CAB taking numerous complaints.
It's not just 'sad' as you call it, it's downright appalling and not a trivial matter for those affected whatsoever.0 -

You obviously weren't one of the many hundreds of people he let down, lied to and insulted.0
