  • Filed my paypal dispute and the paypal people couldn't have been nicer!! Please, anyone who hasn't done this yet, be encouraged and go for it!!!

I would have loved all the hampers, but after emails and phone calls with nothing to show for it, I will be even more pleased to have the money back :)

As the OP of this thread, and the one who took up the request on Twitter to put the deal on here, (with the offer of a free hamper - did you ever get it btw?), could I ask would you recommend this company again? It seems some still would, so I'm just curious as you were the OP and had prior knowledge of the company.

    Thanks! :)

It wasn't me on Twitter, I wasn't offered anything to put the deal on here, at the time I was happy to update people on the forum who were interested if I saw a new deal as I was at the time happy with what I'd received, but no I wouldn't recommend the company now after all of the "goings ons" -

    I've been Money Tipped!

I began following on twitter as I am also a local small-business. The tweets came thick and fast. One deal after another. My time-line became clogged with them every night. I had to un-follow as it was driving me crazy! I believe he took on more than he could chew and it has become a disaster. I know that as a small business you have to grow slowly and build your customer base. It all seemed too much too quickly.

When the news broke in the local paper last week, I was not surprised. It has been the talk of the pub with locals not understanding why a shop would be closed during the busiest time of the year. There was an update in our local paper this week too but as I'm not allowed to put a link on here yet, it was in the Great Yarmouth Mercury.

Good insight and confirms what I thought really.
I think he was maybe on an ego trip??
I can only just imagine him telling his "mates" etc of his "plans" and could well be ridiculed now in the pubs etc of his failings ................... though he will have another tale to tell no doubt!!
Just hope his child/children don't suffer any bullying - he is the guilty one along with maybe a few others.

To me anyway, he will always be known as:

    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQt9-wPJxkMhuZefWYdyukNIXc4I3TeT8-4hs184yhx5QlZIc6hXw

I really hope his business folds and he never ever starts another one - that would mean nobody else would have to suffer from his incompetence.
I would not risk receiving future orders and would try and get a refund, but I'm not the one gambling.

I understand kate1967's post and why she wanted the thread closed, but I disagree with closing it whilst people are out of pocket. Kate1967 didn't like the animosity side of things I believe??
I have probably contributed to her reasoning with my "banter", but my "banter" was to raise morale or at least intended that way.
I'll make this my last post on this thread, but wish you all who have suffered and all who are helping the very best wishes. I really hope the most vulnerable ones have been or will get reimbursed, that's the most sickening for myself.

Take care - good luck in 2013 and yes, MSE is a community and the greatest community the web has ever seen or will see.

Just an update to say a cheque refunding the full amount dropped through the door this morning. Unfortunately, I was out at the shops so I didn't see how many times it bounced up off the floor. I'll let you know when it clears my account. Good luck in the Hamper Lottery to anyone who is still waiting.

Thanks for clarifying. He was offering incentives on Twitter for people to get his deals on MSE, as HUKD wouldn't let them!

It has made me think twice about posting deals in general tbh, especially from 'unproven' places such as these.

And paying up front for something which could have quite differing payment terms ( PayPal have a pending payment service for instance which companies use to take payment on despatch rather than on placing the order).
  • Don't stop posting - your posts have had me in stitches, so thank you. I've gone from anger to sadness to outrage to laughter and your posts have been most insightful, wise and witty, and have brightened up the thread no end. :)

    You'll be missed x
