The Norfolk hamper company thread

well I for one hope that this thread remains open as otherwise I will have no idea who has or has not had a refund and if I need more help (I am still waiting for PayPal to intervene) I will not have anyone to ask0

I think Paypal will honour all refunds and chase the debt themselves.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I don't have confidence in PayPal, I was scammed a few years ago, won my PayPal dispute but because they 'seller' only had £1 and some pence in their PayPal account, that was all I was refunded.
Hopefully their policy has changed on that though in the time that has passedNSDs 7/20

I can't see why the thread should be closed at the behest of one poster feeling we are somehow bullying. In fact, the thread has been the one bright spot in the whole sorry saga of my non arriving, non refunded (out of Paypal timescale and the money straight out of my bank account and under £100 so I'm not likely to see it again) hamper order. It's been a relief to hear that I'm not alone in being foolish enough to fall for this offer and it's been a great help that people have posted their experiences re.communication, hampers received and have shared information about what can be done next.Thank you to everybody who has taken the time and effort to post on this issue, I have found it a great help.0

The policy changed about 5 years ago and if paypal find for you then you get your refund.
If you don't then come back and ask for help as sometimes paypal need a 'talking to' on the phone.
Incidentally, for those suggesting that this company can be trusted with new orders it has occured to me to wonder about payment. He looks like he has pretty much scuppered paypal now and depending on the amount of claims in with credit and debit card companies he may well be on their 'not with a bargepole' list . which leaves him with some of the lesser known payment methods which people may not easily trust, or even good old cheques where buyers have no protection at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. with NHC and I wish them all the success in their new premises in the New Year good luck Neil Just a warning to all MSE he probably will not do such good deals again for you, you realise the one a month was suppose to be one a month not all in one go it was only down to Neil's word of him allowing them altogether so you may have problems getting refunds as it said on the website one a month x Support the company and stop back stabbing it that way they will stay open and jobs will not be lost x0 -
I've still been reading this thread with much interest as some of you will know I live in the village where the shop is based.
I cant quite work out where the suggestion of a 'new premises' has come from - the shop has only been there since July so why move? He had a previous hamper shop in Stalham 5-6 years ago and to the best of my knowledge, there's only one empty shop in the high street at the moment and that is up for sale freehold. I know this as I visit Stalham weekly to visit my dad who lives there and I grew up there so I know it well.
The shop in Caister has had a couple of previous owners - it was a shellfish shop for a long time (never a fish and chip shop) and that closed when the whole extensive premises (including a sign-writing biz) was sold. It became a sweet shop last year which wasn't popular and was short-lived and suddenly it became the hamper shop. I was a bit gutted as I'd been keeping an eye on it myself to move my business from home to another base!
No staff were employed there so no jobs will be lost. I cant speak for any packing unit he might have however as I dont know where this is done.
I began following on twitter as I am also a local small-business. The tweets came thick and fast. One deal after another. My time-line became clogged with them every night. I had to un-follow as it was driving me crazy! I believe he took on more than he could chew and it has become a disaster. I know that as a small business you have to grow slowly and build your customer base. It all seemed too much too quickly.
When the news broke in the local paper last week, I was not surprised. It has been the talk of the pub with locals not understanding why a shop would be closed during the busiest time of the year. There was an update in our local paper this week too but as I'm not allowed to put a link on here yet, it was in the Great Yarmouth Mercury.
I hope this had cleared up a couple of things for you all.0 -

But on the 8th Dec, you wrote on here yourself that you were expecting 10 hampers, having previously received 2 hampers. Surely you shouldn't have asked for them all in one go if that's what your telling everyone else off for. Just a friendly observation0
