Dear TV Licensing,

As a consequence of your continued harassment, I am withdrawing your implied right of access to my home.

Henceforth, any member of your staff who approaches my home will be trespassing, and will be subject to a £100 administration fee. Similarly, any mass mailing letters you send me will be returned to you with an invoice for a £20 administration fee.

Please acknowledge in writing that you have accepted these terms.

It's worth pointing out that TVL are legally obliged to access the WOIRA part, but have never accepted the principle of fees to cover citizens' costs in dealing with TVL activities. This would have to be tested in court, but similar cases have now established that this kind of thing is acceptable in principle.

It's also worth pointing out that WOIRA (withdrawal of implied right of access) is quite a blunt weapon, and what seems to happen is that people who are in low evasion areas and issue WOIRAs are left well alone, but those who live in areas of higher evasion are often still pursued in other ways.

There are several other legal gambits that we can discuss if anyone is interested. (And yes, the existence of these legal remedies is evidence that the legal basis for the enforcement regime is weak).

My TV Licence is done & dusted for good, I let them know I don't require one anymore and when it needs to be cancelled from.

I got an automatic refund a few days later
