and then never go back :rotfl:

For completely unrelated reasons, I'm thinking about giving up climbing anyway...So it is a little reassuring to think that I might never have to see them again, anyway, if I do make a complete idiot of myself :)

ETA: And I take my wedding ring off to climb, anyway ;)

Well it's been fun, but I'm running out of guesses, so this will probably be the last one...

(son! son!) > (song! song!) > Strongbow!

Karl Phillips and the Midnight Ramblers - Strongbow

Enjoy! Even if it isn't what you're looking for! It probably wont be!

    Hahaha...amazing video!

Thanks for all your guesses to date...I'll PM you if I ever find the answer...and please pop in if you hear something on the radio and think "aha". :)

I spent a long time watching the music channels on TV last night, hoping to stumble upon it...No luck as yet :(

This thread is utterly brilliant. But extremely frustrating!!

I thought Black Hole Sun was going to be the answer, that kind of sounds like Knocking On Heaven's Door if you hum it badly enough, but alas.

Can we get a better description of the guys voice? Or is that a no go....

A bit of a no go, I'm afraid...given that I'm only, probably, 80% sure it was a guy singing...I can't even be sure whether the backing vocalists were male or female - just that they sing a lot higher than the lead vocal. The best I can do is rule out what the voice isn't:
    a) loud (in fact, as above, it's really quite quiet and understated)
    b) shouty/metal
    c) country
    d) rap...certainly not "proper" rap...things like the streets, plan b (in the less rappy numbers) and maroon 5 are more along the right lines....

I think it's important to think of the song as being a bit like "chelsea dagger" maybe...Yes, there are lyrics...and I'm sure some people know them / can make them out...But I think most people just get "Chelsea Chelsea...da de dum, da de dum, da de da de da de dum...". Same thing with Seven Nation Army (I've thought, by the way, that the white stripes' sound's not a million miles off a lot of the time...)...It's the tune that people remember, not the words...that's what I'm looking for.

  • Only one I can think of is Noah and the Whale, Five Years Time.

Sort of Folky, definitely has sun sun in it too
Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together. :p

Have you tried the radio stations website (if you know it)?
many have 'what did I hear/what we've played' sections so if you know the date and time it may be on there.

You could also try Googleing '*station name* rock playlist' ect. see if that turns up anything.

They don't know what station it was. Might have been someone's iPod.

OP, have you asked the other people who go climbing? Do you know the people you do it with?
