what exactly do you suggest that i should have done differently?
i sold an item, no contact for 4 days, i then tried to arrange collection, i even phoned the buyer, i got sworn at and then closed the unpaid item dispute.
this was all before i was told about the alleged murder in the family
what do you think i should have done upon hearing what the bad news was?
hand delivered the item free of charge? sent a sympathy card? a bunch of flowers?
had he sent me a message apologising, saying the bad news was a death in the family then i would have said how sorry i was to hear the news and not to worry about the £3 item
maybe the further message calling me cold and heartless was because i had not replied, but since i was called a compassionless b***h for some reason i did not really feel like sending a nice reply and so i just ignored it.0 -

Well you seem to want to make this thread all about you and your rather unrealistic opinions.
You're really not contributing anything that is in any way helpful.0 -

I would be inclined to leave a neutral feedback. Thanks to PeterBaker I agree with the opinions expressed. But Pinkgem you have handled this correctly and your not being slated, youve done nothing wrong!.I would just write it off.It is his partners ex who,s apparently been murdered,So obviously his partners children would be upset but this man who,s been murdered is no close relation to him and he will get on with his life.Maybe his partner had something to attend to and leaned on him at the time he wanted to pick the item up.Maybe he really wanted the item and was pis5ed off that he couldnt come and pick it up because of that.0

That seems about 100% more likely.0 -
He could have said he was ill.Why say someone has been murdered for the sake of feedback for £2.95.Not all people in the world are liars.I hope he was making it up.Its awful to think some poor children would be without a father.0

I presume that he lacks imagination and saw that someone had been murdered in the local paper so used that as an excuse.
The murder story really is pretty unbelievable since:-
1) He apparantly managed to overcome his grief sufficiently to make an arrangement to collect just one day after the death.
2) Having had twice as long to get over it he didn't manage to show up. Rather than tell the seller about the alleged connection too the murder at this point he just swears at her.
3) The next day (presumably after he reads about it in the local paper) he comes up with his somewhat implausible excuse.
Not all people are liars, but I'd bet money that this buyer is.0 -
Oh, for goodness sake - let's just cut through the crap. The non-paying bidder process is there for exactly the purpose that it states - bidders who don't pay. Regardless the circumstance, this is what has happened. There's nothing "heartless" or "uncomapssionate" about filing a NPB - it's not as if it's a court action or something, it's just a statement of the outcome of the transaction. The same with a negative feedback - it's just a description of the outcome of a transaction. If the person did not pay - whatever the reason - there is nothing wrong in leaving feedback that says 'this person did not pay'!!
There's a saying, "be wise as a serpents, harmless as a dove" ... to just blindly accept every sob story you come across isn't "compassion" it's stupidity, and can cause no end of trouble. You'd end up sending your life savings to Nigeria by the end of next week just for starters!
And don't argue with me please, I'm having a really bad day because all my family have just died in freak pedalo accident ...For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0
