If they've been given a strike I don't think they can leave you feedback so go ahead and neg them.

That's not correct, they have to have failed to respond to the dispute to be prevented from leaving feedback.

Oh, another case where a seller has to be a mind reader!

I must say that ebay buyers seem to be a most unfortunate lot, what with the amount of illnesses they suffer and now murders. Obviously I feel terribly sad for people that have genuine problems which prevent them buying, but when they can email and be abusive and still not pay one has to wonder how distressed they really are.

exactly! how can i be compassionate about something i knew nothing about?

first of all he said that his girlfriend had been out all day running around, so i presumed he meant she had their car all day or something then he said he couldn't go anywhere cos she had had some bad news but didn't say what and it just sounded like an excuse by the way he hesitated first

i have just checked the local argus website, somebody in their area has allegedly been murdered but this was last thursday and they died in hospital on sunday...

I presume that they will be waiting for you to leave feedback before they leave theirs. Its a long time off but wait until its just before the 70 days time limit, late at night close to the exact time to leave yours, then when they realise that you have left a negative feedback they won't be able to leave you a retaliatory and unjust one.

Hanax, the ability to leave feedback does not disappear exactly on day 70. Feedback can be easily left for 90 days as per ebay help pages, and for many months afterwards if you know how. I got my one and only retaliatory neg on a minor account 5 months after the auction ended.

  • I am also wondering how ebay is surviving due to the amount of buyer's/ relatives/friends/goldfish/pet flies who are passing away.

Did you reply to the buyers msg?

Id be very tempted to reply saying something like a quick message to inform me of the family bereavement and I would have understood, rather than a longer message calling me a compasionless b***h.

We all lose people we love, often in tragic circumstances, but I think most of us know its pretty unacceptable to call unbeknown strangers 'b***s'!
