evicting a racist lodger

You think my terminating a date extreme despite not being present at the date, not knowing if I did say anything, not bothering to ask what was said. Did the fact that I used the word 'disgusted' give you a clue that what was said was a little more than "in that moment he said something ill thought out/ill informed/silly/ignorant"? Clearly not.
No it didn't - it just made me think that you judged a person entirely based on one thing they said.0 -
There are plenty of things that used to be perfectly innocent which the politically correct moron brigade have jumped on as racist/secxist etc.
One is "golliwog". When I was a child growing up it was a doll which Robertsons Jam also used as a logo. But grown ups said it was racist even though as a child all I saw it as was a doll and the logo and even now I think exactly the same although I understand the connotations so don't use it other than to illustrate points like this.
So say in conversation the lodger says "oh that looks like a gollywog". They're not being racist, they mean nothing by it other than whatever the thing is bears a resemblence to a doll. However your PC moron instantly sees it as racist because they've been indoctrinated to think it couldn't be anything else and goes into full on Daily Mail mode.
Maybe the lodger said they wanted to fly the St George's flag in their window? Plenty of people seem to think that that is racist...
There are plenty of things that some stupid people see as racist which aren't.parker2328 wrote:I'm not daft and I know exactly what she meant.
Really? Are you 100% sure about that or do you not actually like this woman that much and saw what you wanted to see? Some people seem able to find discrimination in pretty much everything even where none existed. I suspect that the OP is of that train of thought.
Perhaps the OP could post the comment so we can judge for ourselves wether or not it was worthy of someone losing their home over.
The OP though now has a bit of a problem.parker2328 wrote:Last night the lodger made a racist comment.
They've openly called their lodger a racist on a public forum. Should that lodger recognise it is them who is being talked about, there could be legal ramifications should they decide to take that route.0 -
Without knowing what was said it is hard to comment but I think the term racist is thrown a round a little too much.
I was told I was being racist because I made a negative comment about a culture that is heavily present in some areas of Birmingham. I am not going to repeat what I said but I have heard a lot worse said about the French in open conversation without anyone batting an eyelid.Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid

Sorry but it's you who has misunderstood: both clearly fall under accepted definitions of racism
Firefox you really haven't read the post you quoted have you- read the last sentence again and you will see.It is then if we distort that, or place an evaluation of an innate inferiority, or superiority, that there is a problem.
Racism or to break it down to Janet and John "Race- isms" is that you can take
One ethnic group
list characteristics 1 2 3 etc
If you weave into that they are then good for something or bad for something that it is wrong.Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.

You are better off on Twitter- that's the right place for opinion over substance, and the character limit suited to those incapable of advancing a discussion.

I read it carefully thank you, it is your grammar or paragraph structure that is at fault. The last sentence follows on from your definition of racism, intimating that the negative aspect is a distortion of racism not a definition in its own right. My addition in red
"Racism is a fundamental assessment that there are different races in the world. We can attribute measurable objective characteristics traits and qualities, actions and beliefs to that.
It is then if we distort that [definition of racism] or place an evaluation of an innate inferiority, or superiority, that there is a problem."
If that is not what you meant your first sentence is meaningless because most people understand racism to have the second meaning so it is not poorly understood at all.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Mike Harding told a very funny sketch over gollywogs- when he as a boy the family were very poor and could not afford glasses for him.
His father made a pair out of chicken wire for head gear and screwed in to old jam jars for lenses.
He said they worked fine but until he was 8, he thought world was full of gollywogs :rotfl:Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.

What is there left to discuss? There are few things more pointless than listening to someone like yourself trying (and failing) to justify racism."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. When it comes to history, it will be the people who broke the law for freedom that will be remembered and honoured." --Rt. Hon. Tony Benn0 -

They don't need a "get-out clause"."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. When it comes to history, it will be the people who broke the law for freedom that will be remembered and honoured." --Rt. Hon. Tony Benn0 -
I think everyone is now dying to know what the lodger actually said!!! lol!!! Please OP put us out of our misery :rotfl:0
