Suppose it is but they if you work how many people work totally unsupervised? All your work is checked at some point, some people all day everyday. So if you are claiming JSA why shouldn't your jobsearch be checked? You say what you are doing someone checks it, why do so many people get hung up on it? It those who have something to hide that usually mind.0 -

There is nothing wrong with checking job search activity but there is no need to ask for someone's email password to do this. The fact is they won't require your password something has got lost in the translation with these cases. Apart from the intrusion and risk to the claimant, there is a risk to JCP staff of laying themselves open to accusation of misusing the password and/or the account access.0 -
Something wrong is simply that.
Something illegal
As for an email account being the 'key' to widespread identity theft and fraud is ridiculous.
If anyone is that paranoid with handing over this information, why don't they as another poster has suggested, open up a new sub account purely for a record of web sites visited, job searches and applications and give them that info.
Surely it is much quicker and easier for the Jobcentre to access the email accounts of JSA applicants to check up on the web searching history as well as to see what jobs have been applied for. Given the way we are now in a 'paperless' society - bank statements etc isn't this one way of helping to cut down on the use of paper?
Illegal is not the same as immoral.0 -

Oh here we go, the 'immoral' card has been dealt!
It's 'immoral' that we have the useless articles that say they want to work, yet put no real effort into finding a job. And it's also 'immoral' for those who spend more time trying to maximise their benefits instead of putting some real effort into job searching
Do you work?:j0 -

Ah. So claimants will need an email account (or need to set one up) to receive alerts, they'll also need to set up a login, user name and password, for their jobmatch account.
But there will be no need for an adviser to know the password for the email account todwp wrote:access their jobsearch activity record0
