JSA and email

was told I had to give the JSA my password for my email account, I guess it's to check I am applying for jobs. is this correct? I don't mine them asking for proof of applications and looking at the account but he said he wanted to take a record of the password for his file?

That's crazy! They seriously asked for your password? I can't see how that would be allowed.

yes, I only got away with not giving him it because I told him I had a password vault I use so do not know the password.

I have only been on JSA for a month, and on contribution JSA too.
  • I'd be extremely uncomfortable with someone asking for my email password no matter who it was!

Suggest instead that you bring a printout of your sent messages.

Who told you this? No JCP advisor has time to go through a claimant's email account!

well I was asked for it and was told that if I couldn't remember the password I would have to set up an account on their system.

Who asked you for it? A front line advisor would not have access to Hotmail etc to do this.

Why not clarify with him exactly what he said next time you go? I think you have misunderstood.

I have a different adviser next time, but I defo did not mishear, it surprised me too as I have just started signing, he clearly asked me for it and when I said I didn't know it he said I could set one up on his system and that they were in the process of having computers set up for claimants to set up email accounts, he even pointed to the area the computers were going.

He just left it by staying we'll have to get that sorted.
  • Just set up a brand new email account to use purely for job searching. Easy.
