thats how it works........they can only have so much on paper the rest is on microfiche..............expect your postman to be very busy soon.
  • Stick to your timetable, not theirs, you gave them 14 days to reply on your request for repayment, so now is the time to follow up with the letter before action
  • Did you state in your original later a specific time frame in which you would expect a reply?
  • Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice please!

Some time ago I decided to close my Abbey bank account, I transferred my money out elsewhere and got a statement with around £6 left. I used my bank card in a shop to get rid of the amount left so I could close it. I then forgot all about it - as you do, and have been working away for the past 6 months when a statement for -£300 lands at the door.

I called Abbey and they told me the account had gone overdrawn by 4p. So 4 pence has now cost me almost £300. After an hour on the phone to several people they concluded that I had to pay these fees and would not be refunding any of them. Over a period of 6 months I have been charged £20 over limit fees and £30 unauthorised overdraft fees. I have sent letters to every department address I can find, with no luck. They now want me to pay £300 before I can close the account.

I am not really sure what to do now, I can’t afford to loose £300 for nothing! Any ideas?
  • Use the letter templates and start your claim.

You should get these charges back in full
  • Hi Bluebirds, I have already used the first two letters and they are standing firm. The last response I have from them states that the charges are in my terms and conditions.
  • Move on to the next stage. File a claim with MOCL
