i got my letter back from abbey yesterday with the usual stuff "we;re sorry you felt the need to complain, hers a copy of our complaints procedure and we will investigate your complaint" etc lol well who cares what they say ill be sendin my second letter to them on tues 3rd april regardless of how long they want to investigate for.
FRENZY
I also got that letter today and like you I will be sendind my second letter on tuesday 3rd of April. In the second letter will you be giving them 7 days to reply or 14 days? The template letter used to say 7 days but it's now 14 days.
Good luck with your claim.January GC £38.35/£1500 -
Hi, sent off letters as per templates, exactly 4 weeks after my letter Abbey responded with a letter informing me of goodwill gesture of £908 & credited my account but my charges were £3600! can anyone advise me on what to do next to reclaim balance -thanks and help!0
-
Write them a letter explaining you will accept their £908 credited to your account as part-payment, but will continue to seek the remaining amount from them, through the court process if needs be.Regards, Dibs.

Hi, i sent in my request for my bank charges to be refunded from Abbey, they sent me back a letter 3 days later stating they need 4 weeks to look into this, its been 2 weeks, since i received this reply, could someone tell me what i should do now.
thx0 -
Crazybird ill give them the 14 days as in most legal documents 14 days is appropriate. any time ive sent a company a letter ive always put i look forward to hearin from them within 14 days0

Not sure if anyone has come up against this one... forgive me for not wading through 50 pages to check....!
Sent the first letter... and got the same responses as everyone else.
Received 13 months duplicate statements pretty quick.
On day 39... received a bundle of "archive microfiche" for the 5 years...
The "microfiche" is a list of transactions, but does not show ANY charges at all.
There isn't even a running balance, that i could check for unaccounted money.
Grrrrr!!!
What do i do now? I know there are charges during that period - and yes - i did request details of charges (and not merely duplicate statements)0 -
i think thats a common delay tactic now, sendin that much stuff on micro fiche that the customer has to go thru all the details themselves. not forgettin the OFT have reported today that they need more time to investigate the problem so the banks are gonna delay as long as possible.0

It's not as hopeless as it looks don't worry! We had exactly the same issue with the microfiche copies (though we also received 24 envelopes containing one sheet each of the previous twelve months statements!). If you look for the 26th of each month onwards (used to be around 28th until past 18 months on mine) you'll find everything you need listed as CHG. Once you recognise it you'll find it fairly easy to whizz through & highlight them. Then just copy across onto a spreadsheet for easy reference & to send to Abbey as a lovely keepsake
Good luck!0 -
Just a quick query. Do the Abbey tend to take claims to court. I'm claiming nearly £4000 and wondered if anyone had success with the LBA.
Thanks Glad0 -
hi
i've never seen a post where shabbey have settled a claim in full without having to serve court papers.........my LBA letter went out Tues and Thurs got a letter sayin a further 28days to carry out investigations blah blah blah.........then this morning found that they had credited my account with £440 in misc refund fees.............so shall be using that refund to fund my moneyclaim fee.........my claim is £6000 incl interest....so my fee will be £250.....should imagine they'll refund you some money but no way the amount you're claiming..........prepare to go all the way
good luck.:D0
