investigate what? which letters have you sent them so far?
Did you indicate in your letters any timescales you would set them? If so, stick to them, ignore how long they say it will take.0 -
I've received 12 months of statements and awaiting the rest on the microfiche (or whatever) but they have banked the cheque on 09/03 , should I wait a couple of days for the remainder or contact Shabbey to find out what's going on.
The last 12 months are where 95% of my charges have been built up totalling £940 (god that's an average of £78.00 a months, can't believe it)0 -

You could contact them and enquire about the refund, satisfy your curiosity, but get any explanation in writing as well. It is probably a settlement and is conditional and it is likely there is a letter on its way about it. Respond according to the written explanation only and in writing, not a telephone call.0 -
I just went out of sheer curiosity to see my Abbey account online (it's over the overdraft due to their charges in the past 8 weeks but it IS still open and active) and I can't access it. It's asking me to call them.
I've only so far asked for my statements and got 12 months paper ones and am waiting on the microfiched ones.
So it starts huh?:: BCSC #71 but now discharged! ::0 -

Data Protection Team

Abbey House
201 Graftons Gate East
Milton Keynes

You could try calling them to check where it is. Although you've not given them much time to cash it and send anything, they are allowed up to 40 days.:: BCSC #71 but now discharged! ::0 -
So shall i wait till the 40 days is up or shall ring them and see i they have my letter and cheque0

Will i be able to claim back my money if i am overdrawn i have overdrafe of £850 which i am paying them back at £20 a week i have no bills going out of the account0
-
Another one of my accounts (secondary acc) went overdrawn £3.97 and got charged £25.00 . I just rang them to say the charge is unfair etc etc and the and the advisor said out of good faith we made the DD payment if it was returned we would have charged you more ,£35.00. Therfore the £25 can't be returned. Is this right/fair? I've got a copy of the transactions list from the branch, should I write to them asking for it to be returned.0

I wouldn't wait for the 40 days as I believe these a delaying tactics.
This is what I've done so far (for what it's worth)
I'm reclaiming 4k worth of charges + MCOL costs
I sent a letter asking for charges back at the beginning of February.
Abbey sent me a letter saying they were investigating the matter and it could take up to 40 days.
At the end of the 14 days I had given them, i sent them the next letter with a threat of going to court.
No answer.
So I started a MCOL. Abbey have until March 24 to respond
On Saturday (10th) I got a letter from Abbey refusing to refund me, explaining that their charges are legal (right!), that I got terms and conditions when I opened the account (like I had any choice not to agree to the terms and conditions!!) and providing me with a leaflet about how to complain! I've been down that road before...
Fingers crossed... but I'm prepared for a fight because I've got the feeling it's not going to be easy!
Edited: to say Ive just realised I didn't read your post properly duh!! It took Abbey about 2 - 2.5 weeks to send me copies of my charges. Not the 40 days they had initially said.LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012
