Thing is, I already had the last year and a bit statements so the paper ones sent weren't really needed, but the most strangest thing was on the duplicates, they show NO charges but I know from my originals, that there were charges.
Odd huh?
This is a stalling tactic. I read it in the paper a couple of days and just found the article online for you. They've done the exact same thing to other people.

Wow, sounds about right though.
I'm just glad that with April fast approaching, these are one lot of statements I'd kept recently.
I hope the micro'd ones have the right info.:: BCSC #71 but now discharged! ::0 -
Do not give in to them. Abbey seem to drag this process out from the sounds of it. Its taken me from January 10th to now 10th March, I'm just about to fill out the court papers. They offerd me pittence as a good will gesture, which I turned down of course. This is over three accounts and when I wrote in to just ask for money owed and not the interest, hopeing it would fasttrack the process, all they wanted to do was look into it again, four weeks. I think not! I'm beginning to wish that I just filled in the court papers first.
Like many other people I am not very good with keeping on top of my finances but, after this I will be. I could do with the money ASAP but will be seeing this out to the end. I can't wait to get this money back just to get my own back on Abbey. Over the years all that money they got out of me for unpaid DD etc. I can smell the scent of Victory just over the hill...
In a few weeks time my wife and I should be nearly £3000 better off.
I'll let you all know how I got on.
ps. Let me know how you get on with Abbey...0 -
Hi
we are claiming back £1700 from the Abbey and they made us a goodwill gesture of £100. I then went 35p overdrawn and they charged me £50. I couldn't believe it. Anyway, i've just taken them to court....did it online....only last wk so not heard a thing yet. It cost £120 but hopefully will be worth it. i'm just wondering what their tactics will be next? Another pathetic offer? Any experiences from the Abbey?0 -
Hi
just took the Abbey to court last week. I'm claiming £1700 in charges and they gave me an £100 goodwill gesture along with a leaflet about the banking ombudsman. Not to be deterred I paid £120 to take them to court. Has anybody any experience of this with the Abbey and what they will do next. I can't see them offering to pay me in full now. My sister was owed £1300 from the halifax and they paid in full before she even threatened court action. Just wish the Abbey had done the same for me!! Any advice greatly appreciated.0 -

I posted this info earlier in the thread and have just finished searching the success thread for all posts up to date (had only done up to page 50 at the previous post). I'll post an update when I have time to tot up the info but hope this helps for now....
"I searched the success threads thoroughly when it was up to 50 pages (a few days ago) for all 4 institutions I intend to claim from. There were 11 Abbey cases up to then.
Of the 11:
8 were paid in full before court stage with one paid after the first letter and one after only a phonecall.
2 were paid in full and for slightly more than the claimed amount due to Abbey error.
1 astounding claim was estimated and issued for £5,000. Abbey settled at court stage before judgement for £4,500. On checking statements the claimant was only actually entitled to claim £1,000. (no information as to whether they reclaimed this)
It would seem Abbey are as variable as other banks but do pay."
Ok, very quickly updated, as above and new total of:
15 cases settled in full before court and just 1 offer of lower settlement accepted by claimant. As far as court proceedings go the furthest they have gone (from the posts in the success thread) is to defend the claim and necessitate the completion of the Allocation Questionnaire by the claimant. In that case a court date was set for 24th April but Abbey have settled in full in advance of this.
good luck0 -
When I asked for my money back, Abbey said they would give me a partial amount, which they already credited into my account. I do not accept this amount and I am going to go all the way.Should I tell them to take this money out as I do not accept it ?0

I too never accepted the £100 but they just put it back into my account. I wrote to tell them i wasn't accepting it but they never took it back.0 -
Hi , you say it cost you £120 . I have 3 accounts totaling nearly £3000 in charges. Does that mean it will cost me £360 ?0
-
If they are all with the Abbey then I'd reclaim it in one amount but if they are with different banks u will have to claim seperate. its on a sliding scale so the less u claim the less it costs you to take them to court0
