Had one of these lovely without prejudice letters from Abbey.

    My claim is £531.44
    There offer is £345.44

Im bored of the hassle and need the money asap however im not willing to accept quite just yet.

Im wanting £75 more and ill settle, £50 court fees and £25 last month extra charge still to be added.

Any suggestions on how I can word this as I cant find any templates for this.

  • I wrote to the bank 4 weeks ago requesting my charges are refunded - they responded to my letter within 14 days and said they were looking into my complaint and that it was likely to take 4 weeks. I have now, 4 weeks later, just received another letter saying they are carrying out a full investigation and it is likely to take another 4 weeks - this to my mind is totally unacceptable - what do I do now??? Helpp!!

Part of the Furniture Photogenic Combo Breaker
This happened with Smile too but after the 8 weeks and with no further action from me I received a full refund with letter of confirmation.

Hang in there - I can see why so many people are finding this process unacceptable with the lengthy delays but with so many people reclaiming I'm not surprised banks are having difficulties sorting the claims out.

I'd wait another 4 weeks before persuing.

    Hi,
Can anyone advise me? Have been trying to get statements from ABBEY since February!! They lost our new address, and apparently closed our account, but they should still have records. They have only sent two years worth of information. Have written, phoned (several times), reported it to Information Commissioner and sent a recorded delivery letter to the Director responsible for complaints. They just fob me off with 'we're busy'. What's even more worrying, is that we left money in the account, yet they say it was overdrawn, that's why they closed it! Can't get any info on that either!! Please help me if you can!!

Hi all, we're in the process of reclaiming from Abbey, but now in a catch 22 situation, have threatened them with court, but we are hand to mouth every month literally, and can't raise the £120 court fee. Don't know what to do.
  • Hi, I was glad to see your letter re Abbey response, I too have just received the same letter and was looking for advice. Do you have any updates on situation?
  • thanks for this I have just received the same letter and wondered what to do. Do you have any updates since you posted?

It's a gamble. They could stall and stall and stall and then say no. You'd save time getting court proceedings started.
