Remember they will almost certainly issue a Full Defence..........do NOT be alarmed by this, it's standard practice.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.

I am in the process of waiting for the Allocation Questionnaire, or until they settle! I know the end is near but but I am going away for 3 months to South America from the 31st may!

What happens if its still not resolved then?

    can I freeze the claim?

or will I lose my case, thats for £800 inc int?

I hope that all is well in the 50 days left til I leave!

  • I have an ongoing claim with Abbey for £2k. I got hold of all my statements and wrote 2 letters requesting repayment of the charges. Just at the end of the 8 weeks they sent me a letter rejecting my claim completely. No offer. Nothing.

Is this unusual? Should I take them to court now?

    All advice greatfully received.

Of course you should take them to court, not taking them to court has been your problem all along (not having a go at you!).

You see these financial companies only take you seriously when you start to play hardball and writing a few letters to them asking nicely means that you won't get anywhere. As is the case.

Take them to court and watch them pay up - it's as simple as that.

    Good luck!

Also, I wouldn't send them another letter. Just sue them as soon as possible and take it from there.

    They've had their warnings.
  • Yikes just totalled chages £14670! Has anyone been successful with Abbey- I know I'm going to have a fight on my hands but need moral support!
  • paddy,

If you look back through the abbey thread i believe somebody took 15000 back of them recently. They are notoriously difficult to deal with and it's likely to go all the way to court (on past performance) before they payout but I have just started a claim for £2150 and am fully confident i will get it back.

    Good luck!
  • Hi, I am new to this - please bear with me. Followed Martins tips & wrote to Abbey to reclaim the last 6 years charges (6K). I had a letter to confirm that they are looking into it & I would hear in 4 weeks. 4 weeks to the day I have had another letter telling me that the investigation is still ongoing & they will contact me within another 4 weeks. Has anyone else had this runaround ? any suggestions gratefully received......
