It was me with the friend not him. I'll ask next time I see her. You've not explained though why if Staffies are perfectly safe do some places not allow them?
Kids are, generally, "perfectly safe" but you get adult-only campsites or holiday parks that exclude children. Personal preference, convenience (not having to provide kid-friendly facilities/entertainment), tolerance, etc.
Some kids are raised to be aggressive, rude, even physically abusive. Does that make all kids dangerous?
Ditto with Staffies. Unfortunately, due to the nature of today's news, we hear a whole lot more about Staffie attacks than we do about the positives of the breed. Therefore many people assume the whole breed is dangerous - social influence and stereotyping.
I don't deny that the fact that the 'wrong crowd' choosing the Staffie as their status breed has probably contributed to some people breeding aggressive dogs and introducing aggressive traits into the lines, creating pups that are more predisposed to being aggressive than other dogs, but a) this is not all Staffies and b) the same could be done to many dogs. Designer dogs like the Chihuahua could equally be bred to be less friendly as breeders prioritise looks and size (with the fad for teeny-tiny dogs) over temperament, designer crosses like the Labradoodle etc. hitting off is bringing about more BYBs who will not take temperament into much consideration - any careless breeding can lead to dogs with less than ideal temperaments, and that is the problem here, not a particular breed as a whole.0 -

I explained why the two places you posted links to do not allow staffordshire bull terriers and also cleared up the falacy that it was down to insurance issues, or so I thought.0 -

Which insurer because nobody has actually shown one yet, shouldn't be too difficult to ask your friend and let us know.
I have no idea. As another poster suggested, if it bothers you so much, go google and find out yourself. It may just be one insurer, it may be more. My, this has wound you up hasn't it?0 -

Yes that's right you claimed they were ignorant. People who own dog business's are obviously ignorant about dogs. They are the racists of the dog world. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

You have nothing to add so resort to ridiculous comments like this.
There are no facts to support any of the comments you have made, so there is nothing more to discuss.
You have been proven wrong time and time again.0 -
Welshwoof not quoting your post as its massive. However you can't deny the fact there are a large number of incidents that involve Staffies. Was the Staffie not originally bred as a fighting dog?
This whole post has come about because a Staffie unprovoked savages a puppy. That's not good! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
What bothers me is people posting falacies, adding further to the unwarranted bad reputation of a dog breed that they clearly know nothing about.
And now,it's your turn to show me where I ever said I did know anything about the breed! A far as I am aware, this is a forum where people can make a contribution to a discussion.
I posted what someone was told as being the reason why they would not accept that breed at their kennels.
At the risk of winding you up even further I would like to let you know that the one and only time I have ever witnessed a dog snap and try to bite a child (completely unprovoked I may add) just happened to be this breed of dog. Now I am aware that this does not and should not taint the whole breed. Hoŵever, I am merely recounting what I personally saw and I have to confess, it did absolutely nothing to endear me to the breed.
Ps goater. I honestly never thought I would see the day when I would thank you. How about that then?0 -

I'm not denying that there's a large number of reported incidents involving Staffies, no. It's because they get good press - go back 10 years and the original epithet 'Devil Dog' as actually coined for Rottweilers and now it's liberally applied by red tops to anything vaguely pitbull like...including Staffies.
Of course the stats are a wee bit skewed because "Child bitten in the face by Yorkshire Terrier" doesn't make good headlines...people don't get riled up over Daschunds (a breed top of the 'bite' list.)
When my dog was a puppy he was attacked by a Jack Russell...the owner stood and laughed. He's also been attacked by a Labradoodle and a Red Setter. That's also not good is it?This whole post has come about because a Staffie unprovoked savages a puppy. That's not good!
Staffies are no worse or no better than any other dog; it's simply the fact that at the moment they're popular with a certain type of person who encourages the aggression. Sooner or later they'll lose popularity and another breed will be the choice....increasingly that breed seems to be the Husky.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”
