To bring back the glory days of the C64 (or the VIC-20, et al) on your PC or MAC, use VICE.

    See:
    http://www.viceteam.org/
    http://www.viceteam.org/vice_toc.html

    and also:
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=278022

When you've set it up, go to the following site for lots of the old C64 games to play on your system:
    http://www.c64.com/

PS. All the good old Jeff MInter Llamasoft games for the C64 are now freeware. Grab them from:

    http://www.medwaypvb.com/llamadloads.htm

    - and don't forget that Llamasoft are still up and running:

    http://www.llamasoft.co.uk/

Even better is Gamebase 64. They aim to collect every C64 game EVER and release a torrent with them all on as well as many different emulators. They have a MAME style frontend with screenshots and details of the game as well as music and cover pictures.

A word of warning for anyone at work - I tried the above address at work and Websense told me it contained adult content - must be the Sam Fox strip poker game! :rotfl: Anyway, the site is very safe to access from work - just a glitch in Websense so best to avoid at work.

  • ooh, I remember playing this on my zx spectrum. Was it the game where the little man ran around blowing up bits to make new pathways, found treasure and stuff and it was a different type of maze each time? I have tried for ever to find this game since, but wasn't sure of the name! Any ideas where to find it?

Aren't you thinking of Boulder Dash ?

Ahh - Sure I remember when all all this place was just fields.

Have you lot started dancing like your Dad's yet?
A bargain is something you don't need at a price you can't resist.

Nah, bypassed that and went straight for the geography-teacher-at-the-school-disco style.
Ah! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.
  • This thread is really taking me back to my childhood, i loved my C64. But I was only about 10 and didn't have a clue what to do with it.

I used to try to input those codes from mag's like a previous poster mentioned but nothing ever happened. Hours of typing away at the keyboard and all you needed was a space where there should't be one and it messed the whole programme up.

I won't buy the joystick although it's a good price,as I don't recognise many of the games on it. Now if there were Trolly Wally, The Hobbit and Attack of the Mutant Camels on there I might :rotfl:

Thanks to Robin_T_Cox for the emulator info. I would download this emulator and try the games you mentioned. Just had a little go on AMC and really need a joystick to control the ship. I will check out a few more games just to see what I missed.
