I wanted a map of Florida for my Tom Tom, I bought a 2Gb card (on offer from PC World) £14.99 and downloaded the map from the Internet for Euro 35 a bargain at under 40 quid.

Lots of retailers put these memory cards on offer and they work in cameras, Sat Navs and as extra storage on your PC if necessary.

Tried the map to make sure it wasn't a dud and got some strange route from Lancaster to Florida.

Am going in a couple of weeks will let you know if it all worked when I get back.

got an O2 xda phone for work, installed tomtom on it and i can confirm the florida map works a treat, downloaded mine for free but thats another story

In case anyone's interested, Maplin (https://www.maplin.co.uk) have just come up with a new unit: Code: A61GZ for £99.99 but if you sign up for their newsletter you are eligible for a £7 voucher making this GPS System £92.99. Don't know who makes it but it has a 3.5" touch screen and sirf III chipset plus MP3 and remote control - worth a look?

Update: It's an Aytobe (A to B) unit made by Dangaard Telecom of Denmark and comes with complete UK maps 2D and 3D with speaker and Smart2go software etc. and is supposed to retail in Europe for about €250

This is an offer from Empire Direct for the ViaMichelin X950UK model.

I don't know how good this model is but I can find nothing negative about it.

Code ES3454 knocks £10 off the website price of £110.

    Found this by chance today.

This is a factory refurb unit, but still comes with 2 years manufacturer's warranty.

The total price incl P&P is 139.97, but you can save £10 by using a Google Checkout - you have to open an account.

Given this comes with Western European Maps, this is a pretty good deal.

The only detractor is that you will have to use an SD card to put the maps onto, as they come on a DVD. SD cards are cheap as chips these days.

Asda have the Mio C510e for £150 which comes with the really good iGo software and bluetooth for handsfree mobile use, other wise similar spec to the tomtom Europe(which is £190 and no bluetooth).
One other advantage of the Mio is that you can 'hack' it(really simple) to use as a PDA and play mp3 and mp4 video files which is handy.
  • Does anyone know how to update the Garmin i3.

I have an STPi3. It keeps telling me to update it. I've registered it on the Garmin website and managed to get as far getting a 15-digit update code. But I can't work out what to do next. I've fiddled with the website, looked at the forum, and even emailed Garmin, but the responses still don't get me anywhere.

I need a simple, step-by-step guide. If anyone out there can do that for me, I'd be grateful.

Apart from that, I think it's wonderful.
