  • Just grabbed a Garmin i3 - thanks!
  • Also, i'm looking to buy a GPS unit for me. Just needs to get me from A to B and work. Would the cheapest units here be fine for me? Dont need any complex routing options or traffic software built in - just maps that are fairly recent (in the last year or two) and that it comes with all cables to connect in my car, most importantly a fag lighter charger to save on batteries!

    Found this by chance today.

This is a factory refurb unit, but still comes with 2 years manufacturer's warranty.

The total price incl P&P is 139.97, but you can save £10 by using a Google Checkout - you have to open an account.

Given this comes with Western European Maps, this is a pretty good deal.

The only detractor is that you will have to use an SD card to put the maps onto, as they come on a DVD. SD cards are cheap as chips these days.

I want a sat nav for occasional travel in the UK and France. The refurb tomtom seems ideal. Is it easy for a non teckie to transfer data from DVD to SD card? I have looked at SD cards suitable for Tomtom one and found "SanDisk 2GB SD Card (Secure Digital) for TomTom ONE at £13.99. Is this OK for the DVD maps? ?
    Thanks. Vegie.

I think it should be pretty easy to transfer the data as they will no doubt provide instructions. If they don't I'm sure a quick phone call would sort it.

Not sure about the memory card, but I've heard that Kingston memory cards are fully compatible with these units. 1 Gb card will be enough - found you a link - I've bought from these guys before and they're excellent. Only £7.89 delivered!
