I want a low cost sat nav with UK and France Street maps.
Also would prefer to have a hands free mobile for occasionally use when travelling.
The above looks good but would I need separate blue tooth phone kit? (Halfords price for this is approx £100.00.)
Regarding the DVD transfer to SD. Is it easy for a very non techie person to install?
The Web site details a bundle for £154.00 ex vat to include a 2GB SD card. Presumably with street maps installed. Its a bit above my budget but is it worth paying the extra?
Can anyone please help with advice?
    Thanks Vegie.

This truly remarkable GPS machine really does show how much more functionality you get for your money today. With a very accurate Sirf star III chipset and a full postcode search the essential features are covered. Also, because you can use the unit with its remote, anybody can control it to navigate or even play MP3s. For the technology, its a bargain.

Full UK mapping with 7digit post code on SD using Tele Atlas maps

£74.98 delivered for a sony refurb at Valutech HERE
:confused:I have nothing better to do!!!!
  • The aytobe you mentioned for £99.99 from maplin is a windows CE powered GPS device. It comes with little support at the moment but it's not bad for the price. It uses TeleAtlas maps however, TeleAtlas mailed me saying the have no hardware / software for this device.
It's made by dangaard telecom and it has a new SiRFStar III chipset.
The software is provided by Smart2go which is seen in the nokia mobile phones.

I'm trying to work out how to get new maps from other devices to work on this one at the moment because the aytobe website https://www.aytobe.com directs you to https://www.navshop.com for new maps but there are none listed.

The device also plays music but i don't see the point of this because i have a stereo in my car. Although it does have a headphone jack built in.

The device comes with a stylus too but I find that the finger is the best pointing device known to man!

The device WON'T connect to the computer as a removable storage medium so a card reader may be required - alternatively if you download microsoft's active sync it will update this way. There's no support for macs. An external antenna can be connected but I'm not sure of compatible units and it's an optional extra.

Overall it's not a bad price but if you're fussy, buy something more expensive.
