Well Bug**r it.....missed the Comet deal on TT ONE, it's gone from £141 with case yesterday to £159 and no case today, Dixons similar. Ho Hum, have to wait for the next round. I'm just too cautious for these snappy deals!

i reserved one at comet (with the case) but got a email and phoned them this morning apparently they are are out of cases but they were still happy sell me the tom tom without the case. managed to secure on on pc world website (now showing 180.00) but secured it at 141.00, picked it up lunchtime. good bit of kit, going to upload more poi's and camera locations from the net, should keep me busy tonight!!, the prices on these have been up and down all week i'm sure they will go back down again, just strange that they have done that across a number or retailers.
also check out amazon they had it at 141 i think and not heard anyone mention it had gone up.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

I know of a really cheap system - its called a map-book!!
Couldn't agree more at the moment.. Have a big problem in my area of theives targetting Satnav systems in cars. At least with a book you can put it away in the glove compartment with no trace of it ever being on display!!
Sorry to be cynical. :rolleyes:0 -
I can recommend the NUVI 310, really nice. With regard to speed cameras, satnavs do not detect cameras they just alert you when they are close because they know where you are and they know where the cameras are because you put a file on the satnav containing the location of all the camera sites. Its not a radar detector which works by alerting you when it detects a radar beam.
SAFETY CAMERA SITES GO TO:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com On this site you can register for free, you can download all Safety Camera sites (Fixed & Mobile) for you Sat Nav - they list all the various models. This software is charged at £2.00 for a month or £19.00 per year. If you provide pocketgpsworld.com with a new confirmed camera site you get a free lifetime subscription to their downloads!
All you need to do is identify your Sat Nav and download the necessary files. Garmin's web site provides a free Point Of Interest software package for their supported SAt Nav's - including the Garmin 310. Knowing the legislation around Camera Safety Sites - as to how they can deploy you'll probably OK to download the software every 6 months unless you travel across many Counties. On the otherhand £19 is cheaper than £60 & 3 points per year.
:T
Again for a Sat Nav that has a load of extras AND does a very reasonable Sat Nav job you'll be hard pushed to beat the Nuvi 310 @ Amazon for £158.
Finally the 310 has a security option which requires a 4 digit code or a specific location to 'unlock' the device. If you forget the code and do not know your security loaction (i.e. where to stand!) then it can only be sorted by sending it to Garmin - not much good for a thief!
Can't comment on Garmin customer support - they appear to rely on the selling dealers; however their Web support and free software is exceptional!0 -
after buying my tom tom this morning ive just installed the safety cameras and more points of interest, looks very good.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0

Not being too much of a techie, and maybe a little naive about these things, but would it cost a penny by having one of the new mobile phones with GPS and sticking it in a cradle in the car if you are going on contract anyway?stixman70
