  • Good morning and a Happy New Year :beer:

We were all quite late getting up here this morning. Nobody fancied a walk so I thought it you can't beat them join 'em and stayed in bed!

I went on a bit of a downer last night but I'm ok now. We'll just have to work extra hard this year and hopefully next NYE we can afford to go out somewhere to celebrate :D

I'm going to go and make some soup in a bit. I couldn't find my parsnips on Xmas day, but I came across them in a cupboard this morning. I'm always putting things away and forgetting about them but I think I can salvage them.

No more eb*y bids yet but I live in hope.

    Ok, we need a list:-

    Targets for 2013

    1. Lose weight
    2. Pay off as much as I can
    3. Enter loads of competitions
    4. Be kinder to myself
    5. Don't get so anxious about everything
    6. Dont let work get you down
    7. No more credit!!

That's it for now, I think. It's really hard to keep posting when you have no progress to report :(

I think I've rambled enough for one post, I'm off to make my soup :D

  • Well, the soup went down ok! Don't know if they enjoyed it but they ate it anyway :D

I've started reading the competitions thread and entered a few. I wonder how many you have to enter on a daily basis to be in with a chance of winning something? I can't remember the last time I won something :D

I think with the comps it's more trying to enter ones that maybe have fewer people entering so that you have more chance of winning.

  • I think you're right Beanielou. I used to subscribe to Competitors Companion a long time ago when the boys were little and I didn't go out to work. I won a few small bits but the best was a Tracy Island set just before Christmas. This was when Ds1 was small and Thunderbirds toys were like gold dust. :T

  • Another horrible wet foggy day in Wales today.

Just been to see my mum and dad and came home with a huge bag full of laundry. I don't mind really, they've done a lot for me over the years. I don't know what I'd do without them.

I've been thinking this morning and I've come up with my own challenge for 2013.

    1. The first is to get rid of Ne*t before the end of April. To do this I need to make four monthly payments of £60.

    2. The second is to get rid of the Debenha*s debt before the end of 2013. This requires 12 monthly payments of £100. This is going to be a challenge, but in April DS3 will be 18 so I won't be paying the ex £120 a month anymore. I'll still be helping DS3 of course, and he spends half his time here anyway, but the ex is on £50k a year so £120 a month is a drop in the ocean for him, but for me will make all the difference :D

    3. See how many " no tumble dry" days I can manage.

So, basically, the challenge is "Clear two debts in 2013". I feel better, now I know what I'm aiming for this year, I was feeling a bit aimless yesterday!

I also have some important birthdays to save for this year.

I hope everyone else is having a good day x

Good luck with blasting the 2 debts CHQ, it feels good to have a plan and you may be able to do some overpayments and clear them a bit quicker :)
  • Thanks Jox :D

I'm raring to go now, first payday of 2013 is three weeks tomorrow!

  • Hi CHQ, well you've inspired me!!

I have been reading everyone's diaries for a couple of weeks again but haven't posted on my own because I had no idea what my plan would be - I am going to copy you and one I've reviewed the amounts I owe, I'm going to make a plan to pay off one credit card by the end of 2013- great idea.

Be glad to get back into some sort of a routine again - roll on lighter nights!!!

Keep posting CHQ- your going great and helping me.

    Cheers, GLx
  • Thanks GL :D

I keep checking your diary for new posts!

I can't switch off tonight, I've been thinking, its just dawned on me, once the Ne* t debt is gone for good, that £60 can be put towards the Debenha*s debt which should mean its gone by Sept/Oct instead of Dec :j:j

I don't know if this is manageable so I'll have to see how it goes. Jan, Feb and March will be tough but things should ease a bit after that.

£77 left in the bank and 21 days till payday. Ds3 and his girlfriend coming up on Sat so will need to buy a few bits to make a nice dinner. I'm working on Sat so will have to be something easy. I'm thinking

Starter - goats cheese tartlets (can make these on Friday as I'm off)
Main - pasta dish possibly tagliatelle
Dessert - undecided ( any suggestions for quick, cheap, easy desserts most welcome)

Rest of the month we'll be eating from the freezer. I bought a HUGE sack of spuds before Christmas for £9 so I'll be scouring the boards for "101 dishes to cook with potatoes" :rotfl::rotfl:

BF just rang to say he's on the way home. He hardly ever goes out and doesn't drink much, but when he does have a few, he can't stop talking, it's very funny :rotfl::rotfl:
