  • Tea sounds lovely, what a great outdoor larder you have.

    Yes, the garden has been very productive this year - mixed salad leaves, chard, rocket, endive, purple beans, mangetout, garlic, cherry tomatoes, potatoes & yellow courgettes so far :D

    Today's to do list:

    * meal plan and write shopping list

    * walk into town - drop some stuff off at a charity shop, grocery shopping, bank

    * fit second blind in kitchen (it should be easy peasy now we know what to do...!)

    * touch up paint where we've scuffed the kitchen walls putting up the blinds

    * tidy understairs cupboard so we can get more stuff in there

    * find homes for the all the kitchen/living room bits & pieces currently in the spare room

    * filing

    * laundry

    * keep on top of the garden

    :o:o:o Spent £300 JL GVs on a new fancy hand blender, a cast iron grill pan, new chopping boards and kitchen scissors, then Mr MWC bought an orange coffee machine & 250 coffee capsules :o:o:o

  • Sounds like a very productive day.

    I'm a cast iron cooking pots girl, I'm really missing them in this holiday cottage/digs. I feel like Im using every pot in the kitchen to make a simple tea.

  • My brother swears by them too and has a huge collection of secondhand cast iron pots & pans. He's been known to take them on holiday :rotfl: We tend to use the stainless steel saucepans I got from Boots 20 years ago - all purchased on BOGOF and with loyalty points, no real money :T - but Mr MWC has a hankering for another couple of cast iron pots (I made the mistake of telling him that there was a substantial amount left in the savngs account :doh:) so I've told him that he has to wait until they're on offer.

    Mr MWC is in California on business this week so I'm hoping to get the house completely straight whilst he is away, aka hiding things so he can't find them ;)

  • I will be bringing at least one of them with me next year. They are so flexible.

    Hi MWC! Yay to payday ... and ooh to cast iron pans. I'm very tempted - I use stainless steel myself, with one nonstick for sticky things, but I'd really like some cast iron ... any brand you recommend, or simple JL?
